Local field here uses GI paint. I run my .679 freak insert and it gives me much more consistency.

You kid but the Pro shar I shot at NXL 10 man was hands down the best paint I have shot in 5+ years! It was a shame to shoot it at 10.5bps. I cant wait to shoot it threw my Stock Class markers I got extra to take home. Jonny next time we play I will bring you a bag ($hot).Comment

I've heard that pro shar shoots excellent but does not store well. I've been wanting to try some. Hopefully scoring some nelson this week locally, not much paint in stores around here.Comment

I can see that that are filled to the brim and sweat if you allow them to get to hot outside itโs temp range. Itโs a heavy ball shoots laser straight fit nice in an .684 UL back. I was picking 2 off constantly on the breakout of the longer 10man field the other weekend. -
Who the heck has Nelson near you??? -
Chaos just posted up a place that sells it. An air gun place that dose Co2 fills to. New England AirGun in Hudson,MA

I'm very interested to see how the HK Level 4 Shoots at ION. I've got 3 cases ready for me. From what I understand their paint was once made by APX in Cali but is now made in Mexico.Comment

Chuck E Ducky Allied with the 3rd Canadians. Oh man I hope I get to see that cannon! -
You might not see it but you will definitely hear it. Playing German side for the first time in like 7years with gorilla company. Let me know if you need a hook up on camping. I know all the guys that get there early and reserve spots for the big teams. We camp right at the entrance every year regardless of side. -
Chuck E Ducky Thanks for the offer on camping. I got a nice hotel for those post paintball showers, a real bed and A/C. I figured I'd make the best of 2021 after last year.

What version of pro shar are you guys using.
It looks like its reasonably available in the USA https://pro-shar.us/products/superior
But I don't see "tournament" version of their paintball on the site.Comment

Here is a video of the aforementioned artlife paintballs. Their moisture resistance is impressive.

I have 2 cases of Defy "Tournament" sitting here. Will report how that goes after this weekend. There's a benefit "tournament" thing happening not too far that is BYOP and was asked to play with a team, couldn't turn that down.Comment

I did not like the Defy paint (NorthEast) my proshop got some of it to try and it was disappointing. Ended up sticking with Valken. They seem to have the most consistent quality out of the brands here. -
I shot a case of the Defy tournament playing recball a couple of weekends ago. I had ordered it from ANS since it was on sale for $55/case. It was nice and consistently round just as all the other Defy I have shot has been. It was pretty fragile. Didn't have any barrel breaks in my CZR and got a few eliminations at range where I was a bit surprised that it broke. -
It all looks good from my inspection, I also ordered off ANS due to the price and Fedex delivered it late. It was all wrapped pretty well, nothing broke. One bag has some sweat/grease so I will shoot that first but everything else looks good. I have heard mixed reviews, so we shall see.

Paint ages badly. My guess: with PB shrinking and now with covid, the average shelf time of paint has been steadily increasing due to the lag between demand falling and supply falling.
Low demand = companies selling up = consolidation = less competition = worse product and high prices, so there's that too. All combined = bad paint.
Also, barrels mean nothing. So long as they've been machined with something better than a cordless drill, it's all about bore size, temperature, humidity, your blood sugar and adenaline levels, etc. Barrel "quality" is just a persistent and commercially convenient myth in paintball. It's all confirmation bias, like 90% of everything in paintball.
Testing back in the day suggested strongly that it's best to slightly underbore. Matching bore consistently gives the worst accuracy results in bench mount testing. Better to go over or under.Comment

Maybe this is a crazy idea, but has anyone thought about making a ball sorter? Like a coin sorting machine but, just crank the wheel and have the balls fall into separate bags based on their actual diameter? Even if it is inconsistent, it seems to me that it would be possible to sort a case fairly quickly with reasonable accuracy unless the paintballs aren't very round. If they have bad flatspots I can't imagine anything fixing it except it not sitting on shelves or in warehouses very long.Comment
