Vert tanks. For a lot the same reason a lot of people like drop forwards, I think. Nice and tight and the more I play without a stock the better I get.

This too. Polish a stock tippy barrel and it shoots darts. The only reason to replace one is if you find something a bit more efficient/higher fps, or of you like long barrel for aiming. My prolite with 8.5" stock barrel is as accurate a any other gun on this planet, fight me.

Lastly, Single trigger and right feed forever.

Visors on flex masks. Wish they still came with them. Have actually gotten a few bounces off of them that probably would have been breaks had it hit the lens.

Duckbill ASA's. Imagine not liking these and then running a rail mounted on/off and a reg extender. They put the tank in a fairly good place on the gun.

The old rubber visors on the old Proshields were the best IMO. I’d like a goggle case but none that I’ve seen have room for an attached visor.

I’ve always liked short barrels, especially now on newer stretched out guns. All the benefits of modern ergonomics, but compact and fast handling for those funky rec ball bunkers, buildings, etc.

Short barrels are criminally underrated. When you need to stay tight behind rigid cover while snap shooting, a short barrel is invaluable. Yet most players remain under the misconception that reduced barrel length must equate to reduced accuracy and range thanks to misplaced firearms logic.

Short barrels are definitely better in hard cover environments. I think that's why they were really popular in the woods and on hyperball fields. But longer barrels allow you to press into air bunkers, and I think that's why they became popular.

^^^Yup. 14-16" is definitely nicer for airball.

I like longer barrels for my sight picture for pump play. For pump I run a 14" almost exclusively. For semi I like 14" on a cocker, 12" on everything else. 12" on a STBB feels pretty good IMO. I like 14" on a cocker because of the breech placement being further back.

      Black markers.

I'll only buy other color markers if I don't have to pay more than for black. Not as much of a $$ difference now, but 20 years ago it could mean saving 200 or more.

Dye 10" boomstick for my angel LCD. Combine that with a KAPP drop zone 2 and you had the ultimate tight speedball setup.

Gonna duck a few tomatoes with this one:

          Automags.

All of my guns are in working order, even the mags right now. I'll even buy more mags because I like them so much. But out of all my guns, its always my mags chuffing, hissing or leaking. Ive sent two into mag whisperers in 2020 alone. One just started a leak down the barrel after only a couple months of backyard plinking.

And thats what they've become, backyard plinkers and target shooters. I rely on my PE Etha for spamball, Dye for Magfed and CCM for pump. Mags were supposed to be my mech game go-to -- and they are -- but they just don't get the play time they should.

On top of it, they are heavy and dated despite feeling like heaven in my hands.

Right there with ya. Couldn't get an automag to function reliably ever. Of all things my autocockers ended up being more reliable with less fussing.

            Yep, yep.

A visor on my mask. It both keeps the sun out of my eyes and helps protect my forehead. Never understood why the makers dropped 'em.

Drop-forwards. Not big ones like shown earlier in the thread, but moderate ones like the old Flatlines came with. Usually with a little down angle. I find that most comfortable and easiest to aim.

Stocks. L-stock, T- stock, loop stock, P-stock, you name it.

And going on with that, 10-ounce tanks, preferably with a Thermo valve. I love the old old-school cachet look of 'em. Got a couple set up with old-school L-stocks, drilled tank rings, and the rare skinny 22-oz 3K HPA tanks for modern function but old-school look.

Oddball guns in general: The old Puma pumps, the Equalizer, a Blade, SMGs...

And finally, unique and customized guns, period. Used to be you wanted to show up with something unique- just uniquely customized was enough, but to be extra-cool you showed up with not only a marker nobody else had, but also customized. Nowadays on most fields, you show up with the "wrong" gun- that is, the one or two hot, trendy space-dildos the locals 'approve' of- and they practically laugh at you.

Some others I thought of, Gravity loaders for pump and just Rec play.

100rnd pods. And pod pouches. I prefer playing with these no matter what I shooting. I find pod packs just a hassle and cumbersome and. Maybe I just too fat and crippled now but so much easier throwing on a pod pouch to my regular belt and grabbing them from my side rather than my back. They also work better to fill my sport shot hoppers. And even when I running a bigger electro hopper they work fine. Helps force you to save paint when. You know you only have 400-600 rounds on you (200 in gun and either one pouch with 2 100rnd pods or one pouch either side for 4 100rnd pods).

Playing woodsball I like to reload when I have the time & not wait until there’s room in the hopper. 100 rounders are perfect for that. But with most other formats I do use 140rd tubes.

Letting go of the pump handle and holding the regulator on a Sniper.

It makes the gun shoot smoother and sound better, and I'm not playing pump to have a fast follow up shot at the ready...like, that's the opposite of the point.

I still like shooting my shoebox shocker. It’s huge, it’s right feed and single trigger and a gas hog, but it shoots so nice.

mask with a visor is a must for me, can’t do the visor less thing.

            Palmer Brass barrels, love them.

RT effect on my xvalve mags with at least 1000 psi into the valve.

I guess I should just say mags in general

I like fat grips. The one and only thing I don't like about modern guns is how thin the grips are. That's one of the primary reasons I shoot a CS1 and not a CS2; because the grips are fatter. It's also one of the reasons why I haven't switched to a modern mech. Too thin.

I find it depends on the frame. I like the frame on my Emek, but I really dislike the Dye UL Matrix frames. But yeah- I like a little meat in my hands too.

I don’t know that it necessarily goes against conventional wisdom but i like back bottle setups. They definitely aren’t very practical. I just love the feel of shouldering a Stingray.
