Is an Autococker converted to pump still an Autococker or is it now a Sniper?

I ask because I have seen such beasts refered both ways. Which is more correct? Or does it depend on how it came from the manufacturer?

I do enjoy that this is such a recurring question, even this day and age.

I think officially, Snipers are licensed pump guns put out by whomever owns the license at the time, be it WGP or Empire.

But pump-converted Autocockers are colloquially referred to as Snipers, and we all know what that means, so don't worry about it.

It's pretty basic mathematics. From the factory WGP didn't have sniper specific bodies and autococker specific bodies (for the most part, we'll get to that), it was just grab a body and add the needed parts. With internals and grip frames being constants that would naturally cancel out with basic comparisons, we'll ignore those for now.

Body (B) + Pump (P) = Sniper (S)
Body (B) + Pneumatics (Pn) = Autococker (Ac)

Ac - Pn + P = X is the question. Start with autococker, remove pneumatics, add pump, what do you get?

Since Ac = B + Pn, so the above can be rewritten as B + Pn - Pn + P = X which simplifies to B + P = X. Since we know that B + P = S, then X = S, for Sniper.

However, if you start with a specific body that was on only one model of gun, say a Karnivor, or Outcast, well that name is tied to the body and not the combination of parts, so in those cases a Karnivor Pump and similar would be correct.

Bud Orr says they're Snipers if it has a pump, and that's good enough for me.

I remember the early ads called cockers "Sniper Autocockers".
So, I'd call both snipers. The term "autococker" was originally an added adjective, not a noun
