    $100 paintball marker?

Let’s say you’re finally ready to get out and play some paintball; however after looking through your gear you realize you are surrounded by projects/project markers not ready for the field. You let the max budget for a marker to hit the field this weekend be $100(you already own several hoppers/tanks). What do you get?

Probably a used Tippmann or Trracer.

A used Tippmann, hands down. A 98 would be better in terms of parts availability, though I think the Pro Carbs were built better. Pro Carb would be my preference.

My 68-Carbine has been out performing everything else in the stable lately. By a VERY large margin. Damn thing is 25 years old and has been destroying it in open rec play lately. Those were for sure the golden days of Tippmann and that would be my sub $100 vote for sure.

If your lucky, you can find complete trilogies for that price, I know the price for them has rised over time tho

Third. Bought a used 1st gen with the upgraded valve for about $90 last November. Pretty trouble free little marker as long as you don't overtighten the rear grip screw. Slapping a 005 o-ring on it as a washer can make it idiot proof.

This. I picked up a sweet gen 1 with Empire Relay gas through mod for sub $100, and got a gen 2 bone stock for under $100 as well. They're surprisingly nice shooters. I haven't had any issues with either.

In my local market you’d get a good condition 98 for 50-60 CAD. $100 might be able to land an A-5 on a good day.

the last $100 marker I bought as a real nice WGP Prostock in full working condition.

        Trilogy

Short of that, used spyder victor 2, I would half block it and go raid the local shops discount bin to make it as custom as I could on that Benjamin.

Some times ya can get lucky and find a classic mag for $100. That be/IS my first choice for a simple pick up and play gun. Rebuild kits are available right from AGD are inexpensive and it’s just a few orings. With a level 7 bolt there’s simply no tuning. Just couple drops of oil in Asa air it up and have a blast.

Second choice as stated by many is a in-line Tippmann marker. (Take your pick). The valve train just simply works. I’d say it’s really the Ak47 of paintball. It’s not fancy not efficient not smooth and tolerances are pretty loose. But when you pull that trigger you can count on a bang.

I still have my first two markers from 1998 and 1999 respectively. Both have been damn near problem free. Ones a Tippmann Pro/Carbine. The others a 68 Automag. Both still work great.

Ill deviate from the norm and pick a puma, or alley cat up. Things are pretty fun to shoot for blowbacks.

I agree absolutely. I don't know if in OP's hypothetical, it includes the realistic probability of finding and buying a gun within a week, but if so, , i'd say it's an absolute guarantee, you'll hit up any paintball classifieds and find a perfectly good tippmann 98 custom for a decent price!

There are just so many of them that hit the used market !!

Tippy 98 is a good choice

You could also buy a Spyder with a mech frame and still have budget for a revy and a used HPA steel tank... (bough several spyder or STBB for 20-30$) freak back for spyder are also really cheap

A 98 would be a no brainer for me. Workhorses, widely available parts, can run HPA/CO2 without issues etc.

I think I'd get an A5. I rebuilt one not too long ago for a friend and it was lovely to shoot. I found it very easy to point. Built in hopper is nice too.

There are super easy to work on as well. Much easier than a 98.
