Let’s say you’re finally ready to get out and play some paintball; however after looking through your gear you realize you are surrounded by projects/project markers not ready for the field. You let the max budget for a marker to hit the field this weekend be $100(you already own several hoppers/tanks). What do you get?

A used Tippmann, hands down. A 98 would be better in terms of parts availability, though I think the Pro Carbs were built better. Pro Carb would be my preference.

Third. Bought a used 1st gen with the upgraded valve for about $90 last November. Pretty trouble free little marker as long as you don't overtighten the rear grip screw. Slapping a 005 o-ring on it as a washer can make it idiot proof.

This. I picked up a sweet gen 1 with Empire Relay gas through mod for sub $100, and got a gen 2 bone stock for under $100 as well. They're surprisingly nice shooters. I haven't had any issues with either.

Trilogy
Short of that, used spyder victor 2, I would half block it and go raid the local shops discount bin to make it as custom as I could on that Benjamin.

Some times ya can get lucky and find a classic mag for $100. That be/IS my first choice for a simple pick up and play gun. Rebuild kits are available right from AGD are inexpensive and it’s just a few orings. With a level 7 bolt there’s simply no tuning. Just couple drops of oil in Asa air it up and have a blast.
Second choice as stated by many is a in-line Tippmann marker. (Take your pick). The valve train just simply works. I’d say it’s really the Ak47 of paintball. It’s not fancy not efficient not smooth and tolerances are pretty loose. But when you pull that trigger you can count on a bang.
I still have my first two markers from 1998 and 1999 respectively. Both have been damn near problem free. Ones a Tippmann Pro/Carbine. The others a 68 Automag. Both still work great.AGD 68 Automag, AGD ULE 68 Automag, Azodin KPII, Tippmann SL68II, Umarex TR50.
