All of the critiques about magfed are true though. It's cosplay, pure and simple. There are two legit reasons for magfed: First Strikes and making things ridiculously expensive/difficult cuz masochism. It looks cool at first but the reality just doesn't work out.

I agree with the look or FSR as justification of magfed. But I strongly disagree about the "not working" part.
I usually play magfed. I have an SSR and get on the field with about 30 rounds on me ... I rarely feel underpowered, but I stay behind and snipe a lot.
now ... I had a tacamo for magfed round ball ... And it didn't last long ... Too much problem and lack of reliability ...

That last line was intended to illustrate why so many magfed guns show up for sale - People (newbies) buy them because they look cool and the idea of playing real life COD is attractive... and then the reality of that doesn't work out.
I picked up, tricked out, and then got rid of a Tacamo when I first got back into the game. Thought it would be awesome... wasn't. A lot of skilled or determined people can make magfed work and enjoy it but they're (you're) a special breed, and that's coming from a guy who'll wander into walk-on games with a stock class Phantom knowing he's about to get his ass handed to him. Tried speedball with a P-68SC a time or two as well. I'm not above a bit of masochism but I'm well aware of what I'm getting into when I do it.
The folks selling all of the TiPX and TMC's weren't aware and got mugged by reality... and that's all I meant by it "doesn't work out".

I agree with you that people wanting to play "real life COD" have no clue what it means to play magfed paintball ... Reality can be a slap in the face.

PS: playing stock class with first time player/rental is one of my favorite thing 😁
