    If Tippmann made....a 98 Custom MINI ?

    Picture this.....

A 98 Custom like body, but about 1/2 the length of a standard 98
A Tippmann Flex Valve bolt system
Mechanical ( but you could add clapper boards later)
    Vertical Feed
Would have that classic 98 custom foregrip ( admit it, you love this foregrip!)
The return of those shark gills!

    Would you buy it!?

If it could be anodized, then I'd probably buy one

Except Tippmann is only making bulky plastic milsim nonsense now.

I know ! This thread is me pining for the Tippmann of old, that used to make weird propane powered markers !

I don't understand why you would want such a thing. How would it be any better than a regular 98?

Why not even smaller , a tpx pistol

No, but then “Tippmann” to me just means either old heavy crappy sewing machine-esque clamshell lumps or plastic “part of the problem” GI Joe BS. I have some respect for the old version, zero for the new.

To paraphrase what I said in another thread a while back, GI is turning Tippmann into the new Brass Eagle. They’ve reduced the Tippmann product line (and quality as well) and changed the designs to the point where some old upgrades won’t work anymore. They are riding purely on name recognition. They don’t see any business reason to do any more than they absolutely have to to simply keep the brand alive.

I’d like to see a product like that, but I don’t see any reason why they would make one, given their treatment of the brand since it’s acquisition.

Indeed, G.I. appears to be following the old Daisy playbook that they used with Brass Eagle.

Since all the IP is in the same place, I'd rather see Tippmann release a 'cocker-threaded, mechanical version of the SP-1.

For added fun give it a removable breech block that could be swapped for a part that accepts a sideways TPX magazine, like a Sten gun.

Tippmanns are famous for having a simple in operation, reliable in line blow back design, but as we know , it also makes their guns very long, and a bit unwieldy. I always thought it would be cool for Tippmann to do a fresh take on the 98 , and make a shorter version!

I could see your point with the Prolite or Carbines. The main issue I find with the length of the 98 is that the tank length is too long. That's mostly because of the extra inch or so an HPA reg adds vs a CO2 tank with the downward angled ASA. Replace it with an aftermarket straight ASA or drop forward and it solves it.

Anything Tippmann does other than blowbacks is just them straying further and further from God.

That drop-forward is why I liked the Custom Pro. Made it immediately better than the 98 fresh out the box.

I probably wouldn’t buy one just because at that point why not buy a Spyder? I consider myself something of a Tippmann fangirl but, If I want to use a remote and have a big gun that makes me reach for the pro-lite or m98 if I want something more compact I reach for a Spyder or a .68 Automag both of which can get fairly compact if setup that way

then again I may be spoiled by my gas thru stock, as it adjusts to whatever length I need and screws into a normal ASA so I don’t notice length as much as I am not trying to screw my 90ci into my model 98

Someone already made a bit smaller model98. The Mokal Titan....

Non-clamshell, so more like the old school pro-lite and pro-carb, but simpler construction, ready for personalization with vert ASA and bottom line mounting holes.

I had one of these for a bit , you're right , they're like a more compact Tippmann 68-carbine. Great little shooters too, the only problem with them is the powerfeed is on the wrong side! :P

But this would require tippmann to do something good..... That's not their MO

Also what you just described is just a tipx pistol with a center feed

Would I buy it? Hell no. You know tippmann is going to do a clamshell body, use the cheapest materials possible and all around just make it easy to advertise but not be actually good on the field

But let's assume they have a massive turn around, make all kinds of improvements completely overhaul... Everything

                      I give you.... The minimag

Basically the same bolt system (tippmanns is based off the automag) already small, already center feed.

So if I'm to assume your creation up there is done good the problem is that it already exists (I'm sure you could fit the tippmann grip to it if you are that in love with it)
