I've always called the big tubes "guppies". I first remember seeing them when the first big hoppers came out, like the Whaler. I assume they go together since be both have fishy names. They predated the viewloaders.

I think the Whaler also had the option for a paint "tube' that you wore like a belt, and used that to refeed the hopper horizontally? Or maybe that wast the bandit hopper? That pre-viewloer stuff is kinda a mystery, as we were all using repurposed oil cans!

Yeah, I seem to remember seeing an ad at some point advertising the Whaler, and guppies for it. So this makes sense.
