Getting reed of the tank gauge ... (not going to, but want to)

    Hello MCB,

I have small setup and the gauge is in the way ...
I hate to totally remove the gauge on the tank and only rely on the fill station gauge ... But the dam gauge is in the way 😣

Any super low profile/flush/microscopic gauge out there?

    Thanks y'all,
    X

It would help to know what you are using now that is too large

I think ninjas are the smallest that I know of. That being said, the smaller the surface of the gage the less accurate. So I would just remove the gage in this case. All it helps me with is verifying Im around 1000 psi between games, and I top off. If you know about how many shots to expect out of your tank, then be rid of it.

If this is a 3000psi tank, I'd urge you not to remove the gauge - most people are filling to 4500 these days and that gauge can help prevent a whoopsie.
Outside of that, if you decide to remove it make sure you get a stainless steel plug that is rated to 4500+psi... some are not rated that high.

Someone correct me if this is wrong but aren't gauge threads and burst discs the same thread?

If so, would dealing positions with the tank side burst disk help at all?

As I recall from some other discussion, either here on on Reddit, I think one is UNF and the other is NPT, so swapping them would be inadvisable.

I also think the burst disc pockets have shoulders as they need to be torqued to said shoulder to work properly. There your gage port is tapped full depth.

I don't believe so. Iirc burst disks have straight threads because they need to bottom out and crush for a seal.

I think you're correct. My recollection is that burst discs use UNF threads.

How about getting a tank regulator that allows you to adjust the rotational orientation?

          I know, novel idea.

Do you have one and do it under pressure?
The guide video does say to empty the tank prior adjustment.

Look at the Hero design - you *DO NOT* need to empty the bottle. It's a tooless, magnetic collar. If you're not seeing that regulator in the video you're watching then it's a different regulator entirely. The only available tank regulators that can adjust for orientation *without having to drain the bottle* are the FS Hero and any Powerhouse regulator. Everything else must be drained.

            This would work 👍

If you are using a BBA setup, why do you need a smaller gauge? Just for a cleaner look and feel? There shouldn’t be any interference issues with the gauge like there could be with a bottom line setup.

The gauge is hitting the feed tube ...
On this specific gun, it's kinda of a pain to remove the feed system so I'd like to avoid that.

I understand. Seeing the pic below of the tank reg and gauge in question really helps. I’ve never even seen a gauge as small as the one currently on the reg.

As far as I know, First Strike makes the smallest gauge on the market right now. Plus their newer regs have adjustable bonnet threads so you can make sure the gauge is pointed somewhere more convenient.

Here's a picture of a First Strike gauge next to a regular sized gauge that comes on most tanks. The First Strike gauge is the same height, but it has a much smaller diameter.

Have you considered swapping the gauge with the fill nipple? Both of those have 1/8 NPT threads. There are some fill nipples out there that are crazy small, much smaller than any gauge you will ever find.

This one from First Strike does not have a hex on the outside, which really cuts down the profile. You stick an Allen key inside the nipple to screw it in. It only sticks out about half an inch. The only downside is that the interior hex is weaker than an outside one. I did ruin one of these nipples once when I tightened it down too hard. I bent the top part slightly, just enough so it wouldn't fit inside a female quick connect fitting anymore. But as long as you're not stupid like me and just trust the Loktite instead, you should be fine.

For FS regs you need to depressurize the tank to reorient the threads.

Dam ... I don't have clearance to screw the tank in the asa ...
I played with a tank extender, I was hoping for something tighter but I may have to resort to that ...

I thought burst discs used UNC threads.
