Well I have some updates. The MCB member that will be benefiting from this will be DocsMachine, I have informed him and we will be working on the scheduling to try and make this happen. The link to donate is complete but if needed I can start another in the mean time if anyone would like to donate or request information please reach out to me and let me know.
I would very much like to officially thank everyone who pitched in! This has to be the absolute coolest, classiest thing anyone's done for me since... well, since I started this biz. I'm honored and touched.
Like I told Jokes, I have personal commitments that for the moment prevent me from simply being able to definitively say yes. What I can say is that, under any other circumstances, I'd kill and help hide the body for an opportunity like this, and I am going to do everything in my power to make it happen.
(The attendance, not the killing and body-hiding. )
Much as I'd like to play, I'm way out of practice (the one local field closed up in 2018, and only ran like three games that summer anyway) and I'd need to buy some new equipment. (For example, I only own one- singular- 4500 tank that's still in hydro. It's also the only tank I have, besides a couple 13s and 22s, that can still be hydroed.. )
I don't even own a pod pack! (Why? Most of the local games were rentals, and the last couple years, they struggled to get a 3-on-3 together.)
So I'm playing with the idea of setting up a booth. Jokes gave me a little info, and I plan to contact the organizers before too long, and get some more. I think that would also give me a better chance to meet and talk with more of you. (And maybe fondle your gear, if you know what I mean... )
Also, if it's allowed, I'd love to bring my big Canon digital...
And get a bunch of cool photos.
Anyway, thanks again! Hopefully I can have more/better news before too long, but I suspect it'll be closer to March before I'll know for sure.
Last year they did allow media on the field while playing they just wanted you to wear high viz and obviously you weren't allowed to carry a marker. I'm sure between the locals down here we'd have plenty of gear to suit ya up if you do decide to play and you can make it down.

My father in law is 69 and plays supergame with us. As for gear, I alone can outfit you head to toe. Well maybe not your fuzzy polar bear ass depending on size. But you'll only be able to choose from about a dozen markers between me, my team, jokers and his crew(they are camping next to us) we have gear covered even if you don't bring anything with you.

Also options. We can probably get you in with the group of grumpy old guys who have a booth or run your own either way. Photos are pretty straight forward, you can get registered as "media" at the main registration, they give you a orange safety vest and say have fun, don't give anyone an advantage.
Jokers and I both have camping space for you, there are also some hotels in the area if you don't want our kooties

I may not have much by way of "cutting edge"- I think I have a Clone around here somewhere, and my old go-to electro was a first-gen Etek- but markers I got. Heck, I got a couple full-custom builds I've been slowly tinkering with, and would love to bring. (If I can finish them in time.)
Keep in mind I've been way more of an airsmith and machinist than a player all these years- and as such, while I have a ton of guns, loaders, barrels and tanks, I have very little by way of anything else. I think I have two jerseys, the one pod pack I think I have is a 20+ year old non-elastic woodsball thing, my newest goggles are some Spectras- and I can't even remember when I last swapped the lens- I've never owned any pants (that is, paintball pants ) or cleats, etc.
I have no doubt between the lot of us, we could put an outfit together, it's just that, to be perfectly honest, these days I much prefer to "talk shop".
That's why I was thinking a booth- that'd give me more chances to meet more of you, swap ideas, see what cool stuff everybody has built, and just generally mine you all for ideas.
As for your markers. I think you would fit in more than you think at SG. There are tons of cool builds. The Friday game you score double points for pump and mag feed so that's what roughly 1/3-1/2 of the field is. Since cci is local there's lots of phantoms, custom builds sprinkled through, a couple of double barrels (even a vee twin last year)
Basically as long as it's safe, they don't really care.
I wouldn't let your lack of paying decide anything for you either, there are a good number of brand new never played before paintballers there as well that are renting gear. No that's not the average player on the field but it's not like it's overrun by tourny players either.
But, if the booth sounds like a better idea, that would be cool to. It's always nice to have someone in the vendor village to hang out with and bum a 010 o ring from when your macro blows a seal and you don't want to hike back to camp

DocsMachine I hope the other blocks to your getting there will clear up - would be great to meet you!
-Here's hopin'! The 'blocks' aren't huge impediments- it's not like they'll be electing me Pope that week, and I'm pretty sure the Academy Awards aren't 'til later in the year but I still won't be able to definitively say yea or nay for a little while now.
For my part, I'm hopin' hard, and making plans... although I'm also kinda wishing Alaska Airlines would get their act in order.
I’m sure Alaska Airlines would prefer to fly their 737 Max 9s knowing the doors won’t randomly blow out at cruising altitude 😜 Boeing has a lot of explaining to do, methinks.
Either way, I’ll make my decision about whether you’d be a great pope after I fondle a Vee Twin at SuperGame 🤭
Donation is in. The winter storm a few weeks ago really snarled shipping times so it took a while for sales to clear. I hope it’s not too late to get Doc on a plane!
