In support of Docs idea, I'd like to see a wedgit version of the insert, as that would eliminate the need for multiple inserts.

I agree. I think targeting a broad spectrum to help in most cases would be best.

What about 3d printed barrels, I'm gonna guess this isn't a thing yet cause bores won't be perfect and cause chops I know they have been done but they all take freak inserts don't they

That and getting an outer layer smooth enough for a decent pump stroke is difficult. The plastic would wear out quite fast.
