Alexndl - Thanks for identifying the reg! Couldn’t get it apart as I missed the internal set screw. Being able to Google Ion reg saved me a lot of time and frustration.
Took the cocker apart. Valve o-ring was toast. Switched out to a different valve, made sure orings were okay and threw it back together. Threw on the Mavdev Gladiator I had laying around which matches the shocktech Asa, but the macdev barrel kit on and promptly ran out of air to test. Cleaned up nicely! There was actually a very old spider web/nest in the Asa......
That pump is a steaming pile of poop though. Sloppy and twisty. Going to have to find a replacement.
For the pump kit those are not as good as CCM deluxe pump kit but woth some small mod you can improve a lot
One of the standard issue is where the rod meet the pump and on the other end the back block. If one of those is loose, you will have the twisting issue.
Start by screwing the rod all the way in the pump handle then put a lot of teflon tape on the thread to install the back block. When both end are tight you will see good improvement on the pump feel.
Option B (more work but also better result) I sometime also cut the pump arm to make sure the pump handle sit deeper on the guide rod sot it touch the body when you pump just make sure the bolt will clear the breach. If you cut and rethread the rod dont thread it too long so the back block will be screwed all the way to the thread end and aligned, that way you will see the best result.
Its a nice litle sniper and some good parts if you work a litle on it it has great potential
Thanks Again Alexndl! Put some Teflon tape
On the cocking rob threads and made sure both ends were screwed in tight. Took a lot of slop out of the pump kit. It’s for a delron back block so it’s got some wiggle still, but massively better. Might see if can rig up a pump arm stabilizer like the low end pump kits run.
My experience is it does not improve by a lot
I have bothe CCM economy pump kit and CCM deluxe pump kit and you are better with a deluxe its worth it
But if you can make something without spending much its worth a try
I’ve got a Karni and a Black Magic pump both using CCM deluxe kits. I actually haven’t use an economy kit at all. I’ve been tempted to pick up an ID pump kit but the Canadian retailer only has the more extensive Drift and not the Genesis kits. The gun only put me back $50, so not too worried about putting a little into it. It’s basically going to be my lender gun.
