Limited paint setups fun for recball. Tipx, Stormer Elite, something else?

I'm thinking about picking up one of these guns for recball. I want to use limited paint when I'm playing against rentals, or other casual players. I could just get a 50 round hopper for my cocker, but that's not as fun as spending money on another marker.

I'm thinking about getting either a Stormer Elite, and running it like pic related with a few magazines, or a Tipx. Which do you think would be more fun for recball?

What limited paint setups do you guys run?

I’ve done 10-round tubes in a cram-n-jam on whatever markers I had at the time (cheapest option), pump with 10-round tubes, TiPX, and EMF100. Only the EMF100 remains. I really like the Gamma Core platform, the CF20 mags are the best mags out there, and the setup is still competitive enough if there are a handful of self-equipped people mixed in with rentals. I have 10 mags, but I’ll reduce how many mags I carry based on number and skill level of competition.

Super Nova has a milsig m17 for sale that would fit what you are looking for. It's actually with me right now but they are a pretty sweet little design. It's a modified automag valve train, capable of full auto if you ever want it. Mad feed only. Probably a little heavier than the ones you mentioned but feels pretty good in the hands

Valken still sells it as the m17 so you can get parts and mags pretty easy

I'm not against running magazines, but it's a whole new setup I would need to acquire for it.

What kind of feed are you using? That's pretty slick

It's an old @pocalypse paintball 3D printed feed called the SpringPheed, that accepted the Empire feed tubes. I still have one floating around somewhere. I sold off most of what made up this mag.

XEMON makes a similar feed for Phantoms IIRC.

One of my favorite recball setups is my gmek with a stick feed and little tank. It's lightweight, limited paint, but I can let off a string if I need to. Less intimidating to rentals too. Nothing wrong with the Stormer, but I prefer the weight of carrying 10 round tubes vs. mags.

I really like my Tippmann carbine.
They shoot great, but slow. Feels like a pump gun with the foregrip.

I get over a 200rnd hopper on a 15ci/4500 and I use it with a gravity feed hopper. It is slow enough and has enough recoil that I just don't skip shots. But mostly I treat it like a pump in game.

Probably cost you less than a stormer. I regularly see them for like 40 bucks in non working condition needing a rebuild. I really feel like the carbine was the best of the Tippmann lineup on quality. Milled one-piece bodies.

Agreed on the lighter setup, but I can't let go of the quick mag changes. There's been a handful of times people start hoopin' and hollerin' from the sidelines. One time a guy said something to the effect of, "Dang! We've got Django Unchained out here!"

Of course there's also times I flub the reload, missing the mag well or bumping the detent release, sending paintballs shooting out of the mag.

I can add a 10 round tube to my stick feed pretty fast. Depending on the length of the feed, I can top off, but still have a few shots ready to go if someone runs up on me mid reload. I also dont feel bad about dropping it or tossing it to the side. It definitely stings less when you lose a tube vs a mag.

I cant say I havent dumped out a tube while grabbing it from my pack. I can imagine a mag launching paint would add touch of comedy to an otherwise unfortunate situation.

I'm sure there is a certain visceral feel of reloading a mag, like driving a manual car and nailing a perfect shift. So to each their own. I love playing with a break action pistol.

Im big on keeping a "level playing field" and minimal intimidation when Im playing with mostly rental folks.
I shoot pump with a jolo and ten round tubes. No autotrigger. Nothing better than a super light setup and using less than a bag of paint for the whole day. even though it can still feel like shooting fish in a barrel, its challenging to go for gun and mask hits only, i try to keep things painless as possible. weve got the surrender rule at our field too, so thats also fun.
When they get curious, I let any one who wants to try my stuff out shoot or borrow my gun for a game.
And if theres a Birthday in their group, Ill try to get one of my buddies to loan them a fancy electro!
One of my favorite tricks is showing off how to rapid fire the rental tippmanns .
Get the tank high up on top your shoulder, keep your finger straight and put all the motion into your elbow, like youre fist pumping. They are always amazed and stoked that, now, "we can do the machine gun thing!!"
Not really "bump firing" but kinda. You get a good string of 4-5 shots before needing to shake the hopper but its priceless seeing and hearing the other team freak out.
I like my gear more "goofy" looking/functioning and once they understand they can shoot much faster than me, none of the rentals are worried about things not being fair.
i personally think a magfed setup is a little too much of an advantage, especially if youve got the vest and a bunch of mags and all that, but please do whatever make you happy!
If i had to choose between the two, i would go TipX.

Most of my play style is limited set up load outs. One I enjoy is my bt tm15 with a bt spring feed on it.

Single trigger electro with a built in suppressor, and 10 round spring feed.

The Ragnastock crew turned me onto using a 17/4500 tank and a DNA paintball Jolo hopper with the 10 round top.

After using a revy and 77/4500 and 6 larger pods it has been game changing for me. A eureka moment. Losing all the bulk of the old setup is amazing.

I end up going out with about 250 balls between the loader and 10rd tubes.

My favorite limited setup is my vert air Prolite with homemade foregrip integrated spring feed. Been a minute since I used this and I miss it. Technically it’s just the fore grip and I can put this on my carbine as well.

Brass eagle stingray 2 with a pocket hopper or cram and jam. Run it off 12 grams or with a 4oz mini co2 tank. So much fun. Compact and very lightweight. .
