OP - Yeah, I’ve got some Spyders and other blowbacks. My main shooters are all Spyders; excepting a couple shoeboxes, couple unibody phantoms, and a Mag. Current Spyder count is 24+

The BMCG all-blowback event was a moderate success if anyone else was wanting to hold a tourney like it. We might hold one again in 2021 at some point.

I want to make the next one if you do it kevin My raptors would be my mains. Would you allow inline blowbacks again? (minus emeks so its still a unique event). Would love to run my samurai or my stingrays

Still kicking myself in the ass about missing this event. Glad my other teammate made it though. You treated her well.

Sheesh, and people say Mags multiply!!!

I have absolutely no room to talk; I've been well north of 10+ spyders and north of 25+ markers several times. For a short while I had north of 65 pirhanas. But lets not go there...

Does anyone have any experience with the old ProPower Scorpion blowback?
I was never really in the market for a gun like it at the time (and part of me thought, "But what if I want to add an expansion chamber some day?!" but the simplicity of it, and the fact that there were so few direct-feed spyder clones, always appealed to me.

I grew up using Tippmann's, everyone at my old field would just shit on spyders and ignore them. After changing fields I saw the light. I usually have at least one or two spyder builds going, I typically give them away to people I'm trying to get more invested in the sport but I keep the ones I really like. This spyder gets a fair amount of use as a loaner when I'm not using it, it probably has had four cases of paint through in its current configuration, most of that with a gravity feed loader, and some how it still has yet to chop paint or have a barrel break. I actually built this initially for kevin's blowback tournament but was unable to attend last year. If there is a return of that this year I'll show up even if I don't have a team just to show this bad boy off.

          Spyder Victor
          Lapco Feedneck
          Evil Timmy Front Block
          Random Timmy Volumizer
          VS2 Valve and Striker
          Shocktech Superfly Bolt
          Lightened springs
TASO Humpback frame (super comfy and quick!)
          Impulse Vertical Maxflow

It likes to run around 250 PSI, I probably could get it much lower as those are mid strength springs, but its shooting too damn well to touch anything on it now.

Thank you. I honestly never expected to like this one as much as I do, but it's absolutely earned it's way into the never sell pile just on performance alone. Which is a wild as hell thing to say about a freaking spyder victor.

I’ve got a few, heavy and rugged but with how I set up my STBBs it needs a beaver tail or some milling and a top cocking bolt. If you use a big drop-forward it’ll smack you right in the lens. The stock barrels are nice, can be hard to find. If you google “spyder vertical air adapter” you’ll find screw in ones.

Vertical feed, VA with a gauge from factory, and an internal cocking system, all for the a lower price than its competitor, the Spyder Shutter.

BUT - this better-on-paper gun is really not better in practice. That neat chrome VA has about the cheapest plating I'd ever seen on a marker, flakes off like crazy. It had a site rail and I trashed it because it looked awful. The stock clear rubber detents are woefully inept at preventing double feeds, especially these days. And the sears just seem to be much lower quality, I swear I hardly used it and the sear was rounding pretty badly by the time I sold it. Frankly I'll take the Shutter.

Great necropost. This thread makes me want to get my Mokal Fokus out to the field more this year.

I just recently sold the only STBB I've owned in twenty years, a very pretty F4 Illustrator. I have to say, I did a complete rebuild of it and it shot amazing. I was blown away by how fast I could shoot it, just a great trigger feel. I only sold it because I'm so committed to single tube markers, namely mags and my Emek, that aiming it was never as intuitive, so it wasn't getting much field time. It really changed how I feel about 'cheap' stbb's though.

My favorite STBBs are the generation 3 piranhas. They probably don't shoot the best but if you're using a STBB for the shot quality you're already missing the point

I would love playing blowback stuff, but honestly I don't know if I would do it if it couldn't be an inline blowback. I had a Tippmann .68 special and currently have a Pro-lite, model 98 and A5. I do like the VM-68 and that is probably the only blowback that I would replace my pro-lite with, and I did also use a Piranha for a bit. I personally preferred the piranha over Spyders, but they were pretty close for me. Spyders frequently had these really weird angled triggers.

I do see them out and about occasionally, not just the Azodins, but Spyders and older STBBs too. Way more inline blowbacks every sunday of course, but people are still using them.

fond memories of my STBB's for sure. I really liked my BOSS Raider (WGP built I think?) and a TL I had before that. Once I get my cocker squared away and then get myself an NXL setup; my plan is to find an AMG and build it out like an old Bad Company gun (before they modded them into timmys).

I had a really cool Sentinel for a short while and the fit/finish and overall quality on those are top notch. It got whored around quite a bit, seeing as it was very purty! Purple to silver/blue splash fade. I snagged it from a guy on PBN who had it for a long wile. Did some upgrades etc, sold it to gabe here, bought it back, shot it in the backyard, stroked it gently, then sold it again.

Yeah, that Sentinel is gonna become the neighborhood bike for sure.

My Sentinel is always in my gear bag. It's just a tank, and puts the shots right where I expect it to. Even left handed, which is not one of my skills.

I also have this wicked Millennium with a DL valve, but if I'm not running a .679 insert, it can't get to velocity. Pressure's too low and the paint's too small. Last time out I forgot to bring a Freak back and it didn't fare so hot with a short .689 ceramic.
