Did they mostly give up on making semi auto paintball pistols?

I’ve been away for quite awhile, but I was wondering….Did they mostly give up on making semi auto paintball pistols? I remember the Tiberius, PT enforcer, Piranha USP. Did everybody besides Tippmann give up on making a 68 caliber semi auto paintball pistol?

The Tiberius has morphed into First Strike and I believe they still make a pistol:

When they stopped producing the flex valve. Rough guess it's been a year.

There's still some old stock around mostly of the tipx but you can't get the phenom any more, the TMC is gone and the tipx is very limited on options

It's neither French, nor a TiPX copy.

I missed that thread but yeah besides being a pistol that thing doesn't have anything in common with the tipx

50 cal always seemed like a natural for for a sidearm, always wished there were more of those.

Most PB pistols were cross marketed as non-lethal which led to a whole lot of design compromises. The umarex options are good looking but mechanically awful.

Always was difficult to design a drivetrain that would fit behind the breech in a way remotely close to anything real.

                    Just too niche I guess.

I carried my Lancer Tactical Scorpion .50 cal on my hip today for a few hours of play as a sidearm to my EMF100. Never had to pull it but it was mostly unnoticeable during play, being so much smaller and lighter than my previous TiPX.

It’s been shooting great (for what it is - a close range, I don’t want to get bunkered while changing mags on my primary, sidearm) in the basement and in the backyard. However, when I shot it at the end of the day to use up the 12g, it broke the first ball. Cleaned it. Broke another ball. Cleaned it, and it was shooting very low fps like the 12g had been slowly leaking throughout the day.

Hopefully, I can figure it out. Otherwise, I think I’m done with paintball sidearms.

I think one of the big things is people finally started to realize that pistols are pretty pointless.

If you do your maintenance right your primary isn't going to break

One extra pod will carry more paint than a pistol with multiple magazines if you are worried about running out

If your primary is so large that you can't clear rooms or go around corners effectively maybe look into why

                        Typically range is less

It's more gear to carry around

People forget that pistols stick out on their legs. They are extremely easy shots when they stick out from behind cover because you will never get a bounce off of one

If your reason for carrying one is "it's fun and I like it" cool, go for it. That's a good reason.

But from my point of view there is no tactical reason to carry one and people often try to justify why they carry them.

And I'm sorry but IMO the only good pistol that was ever made was the agd sydarm. I wouldn't even say it was great either but much better than anything else ever made

Yup. It just makes me smile. But pretty much pointless.
