What was the first center feed marker?

[Drcemento]

august 96 APG "products for paintball" section - first vertical feed anything I could find in APG- and its a Knights STO:

When did Palmers get into modifying Sheridans? There must have been one made into a vert feed before 96.

If we are talking production, were all early Typhoons side feed or was vert feed an option from the start?

Production

Not sure how many times I need to type that, here's a few more in case anyone is still wondering what I'm looking for

Production, production, production, production

Is that enough?

Everything in paintball happens as a one off our custom build for the first time

E-markers? One off modification
Semi-auto? One off
Mechanical ion, player produced one off
Smallest marker ever? Pbn contest that produced the first goblin

I'm curious which company and model first embraced center feed as a production run

I apologize. I was mainly referring to Palmers first production vertical feed, and how their earlier modified Sheridans would have led to that. Tho I mistakenly said Typhoon instead of Houndstooth.

Bob long had exclusive rights on vertical feed cockers till the sto which dropped in 96. I have. Prototype cut on a bob long body. Shown below.... Knights were a wgp employee team these were their inhouse made team gun which evolved into the STO

Bud was monkeying with them since late 95. The first generation had shorter vertical feeds.

So were those produced as full markers or body kits?

So 96, either the Bob long cockers or STO. Interesting

You might be on to something there

Anyone find anything before 97?

Incorrect....

Brass eagle was supposed the be the US distribution center for WDP when they bailed on the deal to sell direct brass eagle made the rainmaker to compete with the angel.

Bud made bodies for Bob in late 95 for the team to test upon request.

Then in 96 center feed was an available but expensive option for Bob long cockers. Then in late 96 wgp at world cup dropped the STO in vendor row.

However..... The brass eagle barracuda beat both of those to market according to vintage rex in 1989

Would Bob's vertical feed cockers predominately been custom ordered in early 96? Considering their price and the small number made (judging by the number I've seen over the years compared to 96 STOs), the STO would more appropriately be considered the first production gun.

My uncle’s cousins roommate built a center feed splatmaster in 1988

Wow - the Barracuda!? Had to look that up! vertical feedneck that goes directly under its giant handle -intended for a 40rd hopper and production so thats gotta be the winner. january 1990 APG staff report on the barracuda and Jaguar semi's lists spring 89' as the release date. check out this Add from vintage rex! . this has been way more fun then work today - thanks Trbo323

I came here to say that. The Barracuda was, I think, '88 or '89, and around '89 or '90, there was a pump called the Hornet, which had the loader (same 40-rounder) mounted to the top center of the pump itself. The feed neck cycled back and forth with the pump.

As Ecap notes, Bob Long bugged Bud Orr to make a centerfeed 'Cocker body, so the team could more easily switch from rightside to leftside of the bunkers. He made an exclusive agreement so that if you wanted a CF body, you had to buy it from BL, though not long after, you could get a full "kit"- body, ASA and front and back blocks- from WGP. For about $350 as I recall.

The first major industry lawsuit came from that- some company, I forget who, started making the first completely non-WGP 'Cocker bodies, in center feed, and selling them for a fraction of what Bud or Bob were charging.

That's when Bud sued over something like trademark design, which wasn't a thing- as no such paperwork was ever filed- and the lawyers basically told him to go pound sand.

Hornet! That's it

Catalog orderable... I have a bob long dealer list somewhere

Barracuda was a double action like a rapide... Technically semi

[Cdn_Cuda]

Someone said Barracuda 3 times so I had to appear..... I believe someone on here owns a Barracuda. Remember seeing a photo and commenting I should eventually own one. Interesting how it surfaces again in a surprising way.

[Drcemento]

seems fitting.

Barracuda was a semi.

[Trbo323]

Barracuda was a semi.

Sure is, even starring me in the face on the ad right there. I just made an assumption based on the year

So was there anything between the barracuda and the Bob long cockers or did center feed basically take a holiday for a while?

I'm trying to think, there's a lot of "technically" feeding from the center guns but not directly center-fed. Like the armson semi. It fed from the center so you can make it be ambidextrous.

most of the early semis were right fed, I don't even think there was left feed variants, unless you want to count the VM 68 Magnum that was able to switch left or right.

Double action, akchually

With the trigger pull of an Arrow Staplegun, and the velocity of a Nerf dart.
