I believe there is a write up of the 2000 Pittsburgh event on Warpig that mentioned a 9bps cap for electros for that event. That’s the earliest I’ve ever heard of a cap.

I played my first tournament in 01 and I don’t remember there being a cap. I do remember getting smoked by a team shooting angels though.

This was probably one of the only times out of the year these players, especially at the lower divisions, were going to playing on an airball field. These setups made more sense on the plywood and barrel fields most of these players where used to.

Playing back then it was all too common. I had several friends that ran the big kapp drop zones. I ran a small one to basically put a duck bill even with the back of the grip when i used a screw in tank. After I switched to an armageddon I just used the stock long rail that came with it. I just never understood the whole crane wrist thing.

I use drops on most of my stuff today, even a few markers that were not designed to have them mounted.

A lot of people bad mouth drops because they put one on a marker, play a few games and decide it feels weird then start saying things like "it teaches bad form" or "it makes my hopper sick up way further". Heard them both. People often don't understand what they are supposed to change with a drop forward vs without the biggest one is that the tank moves on your body, people just put the tank back on their shoulder where they are used to having it and then complain that everything else is in a different spot basically.

But I sidetrack, remember, those setups in 2001 are probably double the weight of stuff we currently have. As someone that played with a OG vision impulse, the drop off a good thing for balance

I still keep drops on my markers where it's period correct. One thing I hate about them is that I can't use my pvc marker stands. LOL

Different strokes for different folks. I've never shot a marker made in the last 10(15?)years so I can't really comment on the balance and weight of newer markers, but with the setups I've run (cocker, e-cocker, matrices, LCD angel), I can't say I've ever wanted to move the weight more forward. Where it made sense to me was the guys running long 88ci and 114ci tanks back in 10 man days. Unless your arms were 5ft long there wasn't much other option.
