    Question about oil-free home compressors

Hey, I noticed most of these oil-free compressors in the 200-300$ range are rated for .5 liter tanks. Say I have a 68ci, does that mean I should only fill it halfway? or 30 mins at a time?

Also, do you guys have any recommendations for one around $200-250. It's mainly for target practice and airsmithing. I'm not going to be filling multiple tanks back to back, or anything.

So I have one, and I'm in the middle of adding a water separator onto it. That's going to be the bigger issue and noticed that after doing two 3000 psi tanks in a row. I haven't had a problem filling tanks though. 45/3000 takes roughly 20 minutes, maybe a tad longer. This is literally the one I own, and less than $200 - https://www.ebay.com/itm/318617281024

But I'm thinking I need this water separator with it also. When I used it last I remember seeing more water than I wanted to see as it's just a silly inline paper filter that looks like it was really only meant to catch the water when filling a small 3.5 ounce tank that was built into the gun.

I use mine to fill all sorts of tank sizes. But I only fill one a day and to 3000PSI. Or bumping from 3000-4500psi in preparation for a field day at a friends house. That gives time for me to open up the filter and let it dry out.

I too am looking for a good deal on a water separator.
My workshop is climate controlled and dry and it still collects enough water to be problematic if overused.

I just killed my Vevor. Less than a year. I did my best to abide by the duty cycle with general TLC but it still died. I did like it but I’m sure my filtration and multiple cycles per day accelerated the failure.

      I paid roughly $140 with a sale.

So Vevor offers compressors is a huge variety of sizes. The question is how high up the spectrum do you need to go to get one that's not, well, disposable?

        This one looks promising...

but needs oil, and an external water bucket for liquid cooling, but has a built in water separator which seems to be the missing key feature on the cheaper models.

So with a 68ci, I should only fill it about two thirds and set it at 3k not 4.5k PSI? I dont need a full fill, it’s just for eating crap in the backyard with the kids

There’s something odd about deliberately buying a tool that you know can’t do the job and instead counting on babying it from day one in hopes that it will last more than a single fill. Its even more effed that the company sells it along that angle…

Making 3000psi out of ambient air will always generate a lot of water. The immediate environment almost doesn’t matter. The fact that water separation isn’t built into the design when it’s absolutely needed sort of outs this company as hacks who don’t deserve your money.

This thing sounds too crappy to exist. If it’s essentially starting to fail the first or second time you use it the thing you should keep in mind is that failing compressors produce debris and that debris is going into your gun.

              And I’m in a swamp.

So maybe just get a scuba tank and refill from there?

I see the CS2 seems to be highly recommended among paintballers. Seems better than most. I would imagine with a good filter, you can get some decent results and longevity (granted you’re only filling once per day or less.) the CS2 has a premium all copper motor.

on the Amazon reviews, there are people who’ve had it for 4+ years (supposedly).
