My question is why? This whole style was tried with the empire d fender and it really didn't go well. Now we are like 10 years past three d fender and milsim paintball is all about mag fed mechanicals.

Yeah, it's weird. Did they manufacture the guns last year, but did not put them on the market? Or are they actually making them now?

MMM Defender didn't go well? Yeah its an ugly as sin but have you ever shot one? They rip at games big and small, not a bad shooter.

The Dfender is just fine for scenario games; I've considered getting one so I can actually use a mask camera without getting a hopper shot 50% of the time.

The defender actually shot well. If you got the aluminum body and a bunch of extra Select Fire switches it actually shoots well. I have a teammate that uses one for 5 man/Xball. He trolls the electo kids with it all the time it’s pretty funny to watch.

That being said the defender was a flop and that was based on a much better marker. I don’t see why this is actually a thing. It’s not milsim enough for the Mag feeders and not Space ball enough for Space ballers. I don’t see many selling.

$300 it comes with a hopper. However I don’t see this being a better option then the Emek with a pal hopper so who is buying this?

Amazon package deal wrapped in cheap accessory gear is the only way I see these selling. Then again it’s ANS so they will take your money and hold it forever for you. I bet there are a lot of customers that pre order stuff from them that never happens and they just forget all about it. ANS is super shady like that. Probably charge you a 15% restocking fee on top just for good measure wen the product don’t show up.

Id still buy this if this is confirmed. Ive been a fan of this goofy thing for a long time. Id still like to bolt 2 of them together and make a double trouble for laughs. But until I see its avialable to ship vs pre order, Ill hold out myself.

Same, this would be a perfect platform for a double trouble or a turret gunner setup.

I would say this rear hopper design on the Defender, and now the Raider (possibly) is for the player that appreciates the lack of a big loader sitting up on top of a paintball gun and the nice fat target it gives the other team.

These same type players probably applauded the idea of the AGD warp feed, but detested the awkwardness , complexity, and extra weight.

These same players probably appreciate Mag Fed , but can't see playing it due to lack of ammo capacity, and the less than ideal ergonomics of the AR15 platform for paintball.

I think I just described myself a bit, so I may pick up a Raider if they actually get released this time, and I see a vid or two that they actually feed ok with that mechanical loader.

So, I just recently unloaded my dfender on ebay because I found it too awkward. The barrel is SO far down from your sightline, due to your mask hitting the hopper that I couldn't aim when shooting through small gaps (barrel was in a totally different place than I could see out of). I had to stack 2+ standar sight risers just to be able to reliably use a red dot....goofy looking as all get out.

I also had a warp feed emag once upon a time. I found that package to be WAY better, but super heavy. I think the relative success of the dye dam's box rotor is evidence that just in front of the trigger is the correct place for a force fed hopper.

It be great if you could get an update from him on that loading system? Is it consistent, reliable, etc? Cheers!

So I'd the hopper driven by air?

It lists no batteries setup but most hoppers I know use batteries for force feed.

It’s pretty unique, it’s a “chain” drive, but the chain itself looks more like a string of large beads. That chain is attached to the end of Ion bolt. As the bolt cycles, it moves the chain back and forth, which advances a Cyclone ratchet and paddle in the loader, advancing the paint upwards into the gun.

Once the paintball is loaded in the breach, it’s really just an ion and shoots as such.

Trail of Doom has a good vid shooting the prototype about a year ago. There are also some tear down vids on YouTube which are pretty neat

Weight distribution looks terrible... I wonder if people wind up sticking a 68/45 on it island style?

Well that would explain a lot. Wonder if that accounts for the current shortage of A5s and TipXs as well.

Nope.... A5's and tipx's are the pepper ball choice right now

Agreed. Hitting it with an ugly stick might help it. A fake mag?! Why? Put an angle foregrip at least.

Seems to feed pretty well, looking at this vid. The player just needs to keep that loader topped up, or it can skip shots.

Today, the wonderful people from Shopcousins.com check out the Raider Paintball Marker from Tippmann PaintballShop- www.shopcousins.comPlay- www.cousinspaint...

To me this thing just looks like a mediocre copy of the defender. I really don't see the mechanical aspect being a huge selling point since it really doesn't look milsim and can't feed FSR.

So we know what the pricetag is yet?
