I read in another part of the web that this was actually being shown off at a booth at Shotshow this year. Maybe that means they're trying to break into the LL market, which would explain the changes and the fact they slapped Milspec on so many of the parts.

I do think having all the air-plumbed parts slide out of the back in one unit is pretty trick, and a unibody aluminum upper is an obvious upgrade.
Someone on the Reddit thread pointed out that this configuration might allow Eclipse to enter the very lucrative Less Lethal market for law enforcement and home defense.

The FN303 didn't survive the less lethal market, I don't know how this would be different. That said, I'd rather see cops with these than Tippmans =P

My understanding is that the FN303 more or less created the .68 caliber Less-lethal market.

@ford
By the time the fn303 hit the civilian market it was already out of production most were used.

Real steel compatibility is what the market wants. It not for you guys you want a mag fed marker with a traditional paintball ergonomics the emf 100 already fills your niche

Some additional marketing copy of on the revised CF-20 Pro magazines:
Emphasis mine.
The second generation of CF 20 Magazines, the CF 20 Pro, continues to push magazine design and technology even further with its supremely reliable loading mechanism, tough material composition and curved construction. New polished aluminium inserts help reduce friction from the fins of shaped projectiles as they transverse the sharp curve in the bottom of the magazine. And ball bearings in the winder mechanism help reduce snagging and friction as the winder pays out during use. Combined with refined internal geometry this makes the CF20 Pro magazine one of the most reliable and consistent feeding continuous feed magazines ever produced.
With toolless access to the magazine loading chamber courtesy of its removable side panel, loading .68 cal paintballs or shaped projectiles (such as First Strike rounds) can be done with speed and accuracy. This access also helps to ensure all rounds are stacked correctly, to eradicate flipped FSRs and jams. The side panel also houses orientation indicators for First Strike rounds and shot capacity indicators to help players keep tabs on their magazine load.
Rounds are loaded with ease thanks to the CF 20 Pro pawl and ratchet winding mechanism which maintains a continuous and steady level of tension on the rounds when engaged. Once emptied, the shaped follower blocks the breech to prevent noisy dry firing, to help you stay covert during the sneakiest of mission objectives.

With as little paint as I've been using the last year of events, I've tempted more each year to just use magfed and see how I feel at the end of the day.
There's a big barrier entry to magfed though. I need mags and a way to carry them. This is very expensive just to find out I don't care for it. I don't know anyone who does magfed to borrow things,
either. The ability to actually use a "scope" and shaped rounds would be really nice for my play style also, even if I do lose some velocity by changing to round balls.
I did try pump for a few years and because frustrated that paint quality wasn't high enough to make it any fun. Running with a mechanical trigger took over pump play for me, anyhow. It was really what I wanted, but at the time nothing "good" existed. now i have the emek and it's almost everything I want, other than occasionally a first strike ability.

Probably the cheapest way to carry mags would be an old school 100rd horizontal pod pack followed by a Chinese Type 56 or 81 chest rig. Mags are still expensive though. Most people could probably get away with as few as 3 or 4 and reload them with 10rd tubes on the field (easy to do with 10+10 Dye or Dmags and a barrel swab).

The real steel compatibility is kinda cool, and i'm sure the magfed player base will like it. I'm not sold on the all-in-one diassembly though. I've worked on enough 98s to know that most of the time you only want to get to one part, not all of it.
If they are discontinuing the EMF100, this is a bad move IMO. If they are keeping it, and this is available in addtion to it, then I'm less bothered by it.
