    Tippmann raider is for sale

ANSgear is the worlds largest online paintball store. Huge selection of Paintball Guns, Tanks, Masks, Loaders, Harnesses, Barrels and more. Fast & Free shipping will keep you up to date with all of the best paintball gear.

I don't remember if this was actually released yet or not. I know I've seen a few around here and there but I thought they were pre-production models or something. Haven't seen them actually for sale until yesterday

Even still. $200, mechanical ion engine, integrated force feed bullpup design.

Sounds like something Price would dream up except you know... It actually exists... And works

I think it's a great idea and move in the right direction to help players get into the sport. Everyone likes the emek as a starter marker but I've always said it's too expensive to be considered something like a 98c replacement. By the time you add a decent hopper you are at $400 and still need a tank and mask. This cuts that number in half so I'm all for it.

I doubt I'll like working on them when they eventually cross my bench, looks like a nightmare of a clamshell but hey, if it comes across my work bench from a player it just means someone is playing.

I just followed the link, seems like the reviews are mixed.

I didn't know it was an air powered hopper. That's pretty neat

Take those "reviews" with the largest pinch of salt ever though. ANS will let you leave a review before something is for sale. The EMF200 was just announced last week. ANS let's you pre-order it already and you can leave a review right now on a marker that no consumer can get their hands on.

The first "review" from the raider is from 2021.

And yeah. I like the idea of the pneumatic hopper as well. ANS sent out a short video yesterday and it really looks like the drive cone in the hopper is either magnetic or spring driven but NOT like the ratchet system that's in the cyclone. Just at a guess id bet it's easier on paint than the cyclone because of that

As for this particular marker, it was announced years ago. There are reviews on Youtube that are a couple of years old. They are from paintball supply companies that normally review paintball products. You may really want to watch them and see the pros and cons in action. I think this was supposed to be released at the time of the pandemic but never made a full release to the public. The $200 price above is $100 cheaper than the last time I saw it for sale. For the longest time, only the Rental version was posted for sale at online suppliers. The all-black version was originally priced around $399.

        That’s a legit setup for $200. I’ll admit I’m a little curious

I knew someone who got one a few yeara ago. Probably still using it. Once he figured it out, he loved it. Not a noob friendly gun to take apart I'm sure. And no field owner of sane mind would put these into a rental fleet.

wasn't' this supposed to be a thing years ago? Did it release and not do well, so they took it off market to release it now?

yea, 6 year ago this video was made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGRJqjVh-_c
It's weird this hasn't caught on in the mech world.

Looks like it would be terrible to sight with a mask on.

Yeah it was. 6 years ago was pandemic, and if I remember right there was some issue with the feed system so between everything shutting down and having to go back to the drawing board for the feed I'm not surprised there were some delays.

And idk, maybe I'm wrong on this and it's been for sale for a while, I just saw ANS posted a video yesterday and looking at the reviews looks like it's only recently for sale

I only play pump but I kinda want this... I've always had a soft spot for tippmann, and this is cool!

Just think of it .. you, yes you, could be the first MCB member to own one. What high regard you would be held in, the respect you would get. Going down in the history books and hall of fame.

They look pretty complicated for a rental gun. Rental players do dumb things that require constant maintenance. Maintenance on these looks time consuming, plus you're always having to take screws out through a plastic shell. That's not a good thing.

Imagine a person picking up paint to use in this, or they accidently get a rock or dirt... absolute nightmare to clean it.
You could argue that a tippman 98 will have the same issues, but unless it's REALLY bogged up, it'll still fire and you can have a working marker in your fleet for the day.

Yeah I didn't consider the screws going into plastic. Guess we will see how they constructed it though. I really hope they got rid of the one metric ring on the ion bolt and just replaced it with something more standard though.

Now I am curious how much aftermarket will go along with this thing since a lot of companies can in theory just dust off the tooling/plans that were used on one of the ions

Pretty sure Valken tried to, back when they were copying everything.
