Rolling Thunder 67 generously donated a couple detents to the effort and I was able to shoot a few rounds in the backyard.

It was BAD - every ball chopped.

At first I thought it was the football shaped paint I was using, so I hauled out a case of paint from storage and tried that - I only chopped 3 out 4 balls with the new stuff. An improvement to be sure, but still not usable.

I went over everything - body seemed to be in the correct position, screws were tight, long nose bolt and detent were good. Then I found the problem... the barrel adapter.

I bought a knock-off Cocker adapter online, from a store somewhat local (2 hr drive away) a couple years ago to use on my classic RT but had issues with it and went back to twistlocks. I held onto it and used it on this project, thinking it would be easier to use than trying to find a centerfeed twistlock.

    Here's the problem:

It's not machined properly - when the feed was bored out they didn't go deep enough and consequently, there's a small "lip" that will hold onto an oddly shaped or large-bore paintball.

If you push the ball in with a finger, it will pop into the correct position in the breech, but even a force-fed hopper doesn't jam them into place consistently.

A couple passes with a Dremel cleaned it up enough that it feeds much more consistently, so I'm going to run it this season and test it out... but I have a feeling I'll end up grabbing one from Doc.

Moral of the story - don't buy knock-off products. 🙂

Recycle that accursed piece of aluminum scrap ! I'm talking about the bad adapter, not your sweet shorty mag!

Doc takes time to respond, but if the items are in stock on his website you can just order. He ships on time, have ordered at least 4 of his adapters and likely need a couple more.

FredMnkyDad10 - in the past, his site has not accommodated Canadian shipping and required emails to set up a purchase. None of mine appear to have ever gotten to him.

I used my Docs adapter since probably 2005 or 2006 with absolutely zero issues, and I recommend it to anybody. I only retired it (for now) because I found a center feed Freak back for a reasonable price. If the CF back gives me grief, though, the adapter is going back in.

What barrel is that in the original picture? Never seen one like that before, I like it a lot.

It's a non-insert OTP G-1. It's a pretty sweet barrel, actually, but large bore, like .692, unfortunately, so it doesn't like tiny paint much.

Ran one on an old Minimag for a few years. Loved that barrel. It was ridiculously quiet. I still have it, just in case paint sizes ever go back to normal. Lol

That turned out nice, who did the feed conversion it looks like a nice clean job.

I see you have one of Kit's bobbed reg caps. I have one and on the fence on using it on my Pneu-AutoResponse-Mini Mag project that I really need to just put together and test. I have everything sans cosmetic done and ready.

Thanks - I did the conversion myself.

I was planning on putting a SPAR valve on this but unfortunately Rawbutter has stopped doing them now, so if you want to sell your frame.... 🙂

It is the exact same frame that Rawbutter built for me but I really want to get this project done myself. So did you tig weld the feedneck? I am looking at a springfeed setup and want to modify the feedneck on mine (PF Hopper Right)

Grendel - there's some details a few posts up. Short answer is no, I rotated the body and relocated all necessary holes.

Small update: got a SPAR frame and a Micromag and mashed 'em together.

I wasn't 100% happy with the SS body and Cocker thread adapter, and I dislike ULE bodies, so I decided to go OG and get a Micromag. Found someone on here selling one, made an offer, and it arrived a few days later (ah, the perks of buying from a fellow Canadian 🙂).

One reason I wanted the Micromag I got was that it had already been modified previously - ie: cosmetic milling which included bobbing the rear "rail" - so I didn't feel horrible doing what I did... which was drill/tap the body for a small (4-40) setscrew to retain the sear axle. The frame Rawbutter converted for me is for a Classic RT, so it doesn't have the "wings" - used to retain the sear axle on a Micromag - that a Classic Mag frame would normally have.

I also wanted a clean way to get the LPR supply into the frame to the SPAR valve.... rather than cut a groove into the frame and/or grips, I drilled/tapped the frame for a couple of hose barbs and used the frame as a manifold.

With the grips on it's not really noticeable at first glance. The inside barb is an old Cocker 6-40 barb and the 90° barb on the outside is a 10-32 elbow off a Rainmaker.

I love the idea of running the air through the frame. That's cool.

So what exactly is going on here? Sorry I don’t speak Mag… lol is it a reactive trigger? Or pneumatic? Both?

        what’s SPAR stand for?

Palmers reg lowers input pressure. LPR running the pneumatic trigger setup. So is it a low pressure Mag?

I like the way you ran the hoses and the custom work looks really clean. Sweet Mag!

SPAR is Select-fire, Pneumatic, Auto Response - Rawbutter designed a cartridge-style pneumatic valve that allows for single shot or auto-response (fire on pull and release) with the flip of a selector switch.

It requires a LPR to feed the trigger setup.

I've also gutted the stock Mag AIR valve and capped it, to make it shorter and lighter, so I'm running the female Stab instead.

As always, the kind words are appreciated!

Wow, that is very cool man. Definitely want to try out the SPAR as I've been considering one for my mag.

Looking forward to seeing it in person.

I built a Warpless setup using a HaloToo (actually, multiple Halos since I had a bunch of broken ones), mostly because I've always thought Warps were cool.

I'll need to try it out next season because Winter Is Comingâ„¢ and next/last time I play will be a No Batteryâ„¢ game.

Makes for a super tight setup though.
