    Automag GS, needing some help

So I’ve had a Minimag for a few months and the composite frame was broke where the thumb screw goes.. I also had a broken mini gs sitting in the ol parts bin. Had the idea right before I fell asleep the other night, wouldn’t it be cool to put the mini frame on the mag?? The next day I dug out the parts and realized the frame screw holes actually line up!
The holes on the mini frame are smaller than the ones on the mag rail, so I put the drill press to them. I also had to drill out for the twist lock pin. It bolted on perfectly! However, the seat actuator pin was too long. Found a screw with the same threads as the pin and it fit perfectly in the back of the mini trigger.
man, this thing rips as a mechanical marker! Put about 3 pods thru it, and I love how it feels. I posted it in the agd group and it got a lot of love, then a couple comments that said they were disappointed it wasn’t electric.. so that brings me to this dilemma
I can design a rail that will hold the top board from the mini gs, that’s no problem. However, I need to source a push/pull solenoid that I can power from the mini board. Pancake solenoids from spyders and tippmann are too fat to fit into the mini frame. Can any of you fellas direct me to a solenoid that is slim enough to fit in the frame, strong enough to actuate the sear? All I’m seeing is 12v tubular push/pull solenoids online, I don’t believe the board will push those. Any help would be appreciated!

That's amazing! I think I need to snag a busted GS.

Can't help with the solenoid, but that is awesome! Props to your ingenuity and execution!

I just thought of something while typing this, if you cannot find a solenoid powerful enough to physically actuate the sear, you could go with a electric pneumatic valve and a small pneumatic actuator to get around the available power requirements (assuming any of that would fit in the available space).

Can't wait to see more. Looks great!

First - forget the FB clowns that were "disappointed" this isn't electronic. You put in work and made something really original and cool, they're a bunch of armchair engineers.

Next, start with this thread if you're going down the pneumag rabbithole, and after that start reading everything rawbutter posted here or on AO for the last 10 years ---- he's gone further down that path than just about anyone and speaks from an informed place.

Last, congrats on single handedly creating a new market for broken GS's. Soon as I saw your post I knew I had to try one.

Can anyone confirm if the original mini frames line up? Those will be a lot easier to get than GS frames...

Yeah I was thinking I would prefer a mech one over electric. To me the OP's version is the best iteration he could come up with.

Has same though about the OG Mini frames. Much easier to find. Also, @YeOldSliggity, can we see some pictures with the grips off?

I wonder if this also works on Invert Mini bodies. I'll compare one to a stock mag rail tomorrow

scottieb there's at least five mini/axe frames in the back of my local store that I could definitely pick up for under $30, I have a pneumag'd intelliframe at the moment that I might try to put in one of those frames. They're pretty appealing since they've got the magnetic trigger and lots of space on the inside

Yeah, i also am a mech guy through and through and i am going to ask around and see if anyone has a broken mini now. lol. YeOldeSliggity has just started a new trend and got a bunch of mag owners fired up.

Unfortunately size is a major component to solenoid output. There is a reason E-mag solenoids are bricks compared to the alternative. What you might want to look into is pneumags and have the board trigger the 3-way solenoid

And that marker is over 21 so it can enjoy a nice cold Modello too

All the ohhh and ahhh aside, how come anyone hasn't yet come up with a suitably cool name for this wondrous creation? Come on, MCB, we can do better than that. No cool name within the first five-six posts is nothing less than sheer sloppiness.

How about a YES-Mag? Sure, it isn't letter for letter a perfect abbreviation for Ye Olde Sliggity, but it rolls off the tongue a tad better than the YOS-Mag.
              Got Bork?

I have no Automag experience but can you not use the Mini solenoid? It should be pretty stout and is a latching type so it may be usable in a sear mechanism

Boy, if someone was sitting on a stash if Mini GS frames right now they just appreciated in value. Please post in the MCB BST section. We have some YES-Mags, or Automag GSs, to build.
