All these posts make me so happy. Way to go everyone. Glad the side effects have been manageable. Light at the end of the tunnel!
I just had my 6 month bloodwork for the trial. That's 6 months post 2nd dose. They're keeping a close eye on antibody level to evaluate the need for a booster. So far, the people who are doing their own checking have been maintaining high levels, so it seems to be holding up for now. Expectations, unofficially, are that the effectiveness should last for a year, if not more.
If I had to guess, we'll probably be looking at a booster, possibly tweaked based on whatever variant is most common, after a year. I'm guessing we'll either completely beat this thing by the fall and that will be that, or it will hang around and we'll be looking at a yearly shot like we do for the flu. Could go either way. Best way to make it the former is to get everyone covered all at once right now so it goes extinct.
