All very nice looking! I've been eye-balling the 12700k. I'd really like to upgrade from my 3770k (it still works just fine) but other money requiring things keep getting in the way.

Interesting on your RAM boot issue. Do the boards not default boot at stock Ram settings, so 4800? for DDR5, on the first boot? Or is that a Gigabyte mobo issue?
I've always had ram stock boot with standard configuration so you could get into the BIOS and Windows, then you would turn on XMP or set RAM profiles manually to get the rated speeds.

yeah i just think its something with gigbyte and gskill ram, its supposed to be pc6000 but its really unstable even with XMP, so has been reported, they are still pushing bios updates often, so i feel like they did some agile development on this board

Nice, ya that's first adopter tax for you. See if you can get 5800 stable while you wait for a better bios fix.

okay, got the custom cables in today, swapped out, (way more bulk, but easier to manage) stress tested by playing horizon 5 for about an hour.. i think its good to go!

yeah, the fans don't spin if they dont have to, its weird to me too and i havent gotten used to it

            Awesome!

Do you notice any difference with DDR5? You'd probably see it more in minimum framerate, and loading times. So games would seem smoother because the FPS dips don't hit so hard.

coming from a 7th gen intel i5 that was bottlenecking horribly, and with bad hard drive bandwidth optimization.. to this new setup-up with 2x the ram, PCIE4x4 drives, a slightly faster GPU and a new processor, its like night and day

i have a benchmark from how i was running RDR2, and i think this was with some settings turned down

              min fps 19
              max fps 105
              average 71

this is it now, and i think its with everything maxed (i have a habit of dialing down godrays and bloom (air with light isnt supposed to have an "opaque" quality).. i hate it, same with "dirty goggle effects".. lenses flare is less glaring than it used to be, but i turn that off too when its overdone
              min 34
              max 142
              average 117

whereas before, the times in the benchmark it would dip to visual stutter as noticable.. i dont know where it gets that 34 from, but it has to be a single frame.. cause i never saw it stutter this time around
