It's prob not worth the money. it's also very fun. wanna be vtec yo! they are cool engines for what the 1.8l na they are.

I found a pick n pull vibe as a powertrain donor and a 01 celica for the ecu. less than $400 at the time. But ended up oil starving that engine and had to put another in. that was an ordeal that ended with a jdm engine for 1.5k. so, fool game and all.

the 1zz is a fine engine for the car. would prob be cheaper long term to turbo cause the 1zz are still findable and cheap. but all that stuff is 20 years+ old now, lol

I kinda wish I just put in a new 1zz and called it a day.

The way I figured it, I don't spend a lot of time at 6k+ rpm on the street so the extra top-end power of the 2zz wouldn't be as useful. But man are they cool motors.

Turbo is something I was considering then I went and got me an AW11 basket case lol. Maybe someday.

with the c60 transmission, its satisfying hitting a 2-3 shift and keeping it in lift. just screaming. top of 2 is 58, by the time you are top of 3 you're over 80. so yeah, not real useful on the street lol

all the mr2 are great. aw11 are dope. glad its gonna get some tlc

I love MR2s. My neighbor has one that's been living under a tarp for at least 7 years. I've been meaning to ask him if he'd sell it, but I have a feeling he's still in the "one day I'll get around to it" stage.

I get that. Mine sat for like 7 years before I was in a position to start messing with it proper. I got the whole thing for a good chunk less than the hardtop went for at the time.

I did get around to it, but if I was even a little smart I would have sold it many times before that.

Hell yeah. I hopped on the mid-sized dad car train a few years ago and there's no freedom like reliability and no car payment. Do I miss driving a manual turbo? Yes. Do I NOT miss all the related tuning and expensive bullshit? Also yes.

Bought a shell to fix up the Evo. Got it for $600 delivered to my house, which is an absolute steal. It would have cost me that much to buy one rear quarter panel off of the Eboy. Maybe I'll turn the front into a racing sim.

latches109 Unfortunately, it's still a belt. It went from SOHC to DOHC, got rid of VTEC, went to direct inject only, and has cylinder deactivation (which is also unfortunate). I was happy to find something with a V6 (not a Turbo 4) though.

nak81783 yeh I am not happy Toyota moved the highlander to a 4 cyl turbo, and is why I'm keeping my 6cyl NA. Toyota did make an iconic 2JZ turbo engine but I don't want one in my suv.

Pulled Vacuum on my AC system and gave it a Charge. Looks like my repair went well. 4min and no leak down. AC is ice cold now. Just in time for a good Cruze.
