Catch of the day

[autococker04]

Just caught my two best bass within 15 minutes of one another and feel like we need a fishing show off thread around here.

So what are you catching? Show em off!

[Pumpytrilly1]

Were you froggin?

[Pumpytrilly1]

Have you tried counting to 3 before setting the hook? Top water is hard, I'm still trying to find a good frog I like. I currently use frogs I bought from Walmart a couple years ago.

[autococker04]

I definitely tried setting it immediately, and after they had taken it under. I don’t know if I waited a full 3 seconds though. Some of them I was actually fighting with and had time to put my paddle away before they spit the hook. I’m probably going back again today or tomorrow, it’s the best spot I’ve ever found. I’m going to try some other seedless rigs, if I can set hooks I’m golden.

If you tweak your frogs you can increase your hookup ratio.

I am mainly a saltwater guy but just got back from a bass tournament in Lake Havasu. We did so-so, ended up 12th. Caught a few really nice smallmouth but now it's back to halibut fishing for me

[autococker04]

What does a 12th place fish in a tournament look like?

[Junglepeanut]

Two day tournament and 25 pounds total for both days, 11 pounds the first day and 14.the second. That lake you need to be closer to 20 pounds per day to be truly competitive. We had a decent average but no big kickers to put us over the top. Was a good time though

Thought I had our kicker to put us at the top of the leader board. Was fishing a tiny finesse bait on a light spinning rod. Hooked a monster and fought it for about 5 minutes before I pulled up about a 15 pound flathead. Man I was disappointed

Just started up the Fly fishing seasonal last week and had a good day. I snapped this shot of a healthy Rainbow.

[Shaftski]

What waterway you pull that pretty lil thing from? Always looking for more trout spots. They stock the brook at the end of my street which is awesome.

[NONOBLITUS]

This is in the Willimantic River TMA fly fishing section in Stafford Springs. Catch and release so it’s always a good spot for some great catching.

I am mainly a saltwater guy in Southern California, i spend most days halibut fishing the Channel Islands out of Ventura but head down towards San Diego a few times a year to chase the tuna/Dorado. This year the weather has been garbage week after week, I just can't get any time on the water. Did sneak out and grab this but it was the only bite of the day

[NONOBLITUS]

Is there fish tacos in the future ?

[Junglepeanut]

Lol my kids are so spoiled now, before I could get away with bringing rockfish home for fish tacos. Now I need to bring halibut home or they don't want it.

[NONOBLITUS]

Haha , I have 3 teenagers that are the same way.

[autococker04]

[NONOBLITUS]

Awesome !!

[Chuck E Ducky]

Nice haul!

[NONOBLITUS]

Lost count of Bass this size my sons holding this weekend of them being Aggressive and hitting everything.

[Junglepeanut]

That's a good time

[NONOBLITUS]

Yea for sure , it was a blast

[Chuck E Ducky]

Yeah I been hitting em good around dusk at the family pond. The kids been having a blast seems like every cast they are catching something.

[autococker04]

I forgot to post up this little guy. Caught him while on a work call sitting on a river bank. Tough to have a better work/life balance than that.
