Oh, the number of rental tanks I've dropped over the years is probably very high. I think I've had a few fiber wrapped tanks roll off of tables but never truly dropped them.

Dented bonnets like that are a true pain in the ass. It'll tear o-rings quite a bit more often. They can be bent back most of the time. I'd recommend trying that.

I did tap it a bit with a hammer awhile back and it looked better afterwards. Have two ninja adjustable ultralites regs so i can switch it whenever. Really think i got lucky

I'm pretty anal about thread protectors because I am accident prone.

I've dropped a CO2 tank and damaged it in that fashion, although only about half as bad. Worked just fine after. I'm all about thread protectors and fill nipple covers.

You should be able to pound that damaged portion back into rough shape with a brass and/or steel punch, but the sealing surface is below that, so, as long as the o-ring isn't being pinched too much, you could probably get by doing nothing at all.

Yeah thread protectors are definitely nice to have. I don’t like metal ones though, and the plastic ones are getting really hard to find.

Agree in that the metal ones don't come off easy if you have a reg leak. End up having to loosen a burst disk.

I'm more concerned about metal thread protectors damaging the threads when dropped. Same idea as a bike helmet.

I'm pretty sure Pure Energy and 32 Degrees are synonymous. They made inline regs too.

I've done that god only knows how many times with Co2 & HPA. And I use thread protectors regularly. Be careful bending them back, I've shattered the bent part before.....
