The soda-at-home community does this all the time for some reason. It’s not a big deal.

I'd be more worried about instant frostbyte than kinetic dismemberment. -
The burst disc would blow WAAAAY before the tank blew. -
Also, frostbite isn't that much of a worry. You can handle the CO2 dry pellets without gloves (albeit, for a short time). The gloves I wore when filling my tanks were single insulated hot work gloves. Thinner than your average winter glove. I was totally fine.
