So this is an extremely basic question but I truly have no idea because I’ve never owned anything Tippman in 34 years of playing. Is the Tippman model 98 trigger frame solid or have a removable guard like the 98 Custom ? Reason asking is because I’m messing around with this chameleon colored one and it came to me without a guard and a double trigger on it. Thanks.

Stock configuration would be a single finger trigger and a non removable guard.

Kinda odd the way they cut the factory guard. I bet it was to line up with the bottomline mounted guard that came with the double trigger. Looks nice.

ProTeam Products came out with a Model 98 F/X body back in the day. It was set up for a double trigger, but not the same way as yours. See the eBay link below:

Ecapnation This is something people forget. Back then a M98 was something you upgraded TO. -
Maybe I remember things differently but when the '98 first became available it was definitely marketed and used as a rental/starter gun, and if anything was regarded as being a notch or two below Tippmann's own Carbine, being cast and not milled.

The feature I really like about these Model 98s compared to the 98 Customs, is the trigger design with the trigger spring hook.
This design means your trigger weight comes from pulling a spring, as opposed to compressing a small spring the case of Customs
I much prefer the snappier feel of the Model 98 trigger, as the 98 Custom triggers feels really mushy to me !!
Fun fact, the SL68II and Model 98 trigger springs are the same spring.
