Used. Yes AGD is still around, yes they still make new but really it's only the xm mag, it's over $800 once you hit the field with it.

Airgun Designs is a custom paintball gun manufacturer Specializing in the XM Automag paintball gun and it's variations including: 68 Automag, Classic Automag, RT ULE Automag, Classic RT Automag, Automag RT Pro, Retro Automag, E-Mag, X-Mag. New models utilize our own proprietary X-Valve and Level 10 Technology. This technology allows for extremely consistent velocities and rates of fire all with a walkable, mechanical trigger. Airgun Designs has been making paintball guns since 1990.

The cool part though is there's still new parts being produced. Agd makes a lot of the internals and x valves, the rest of the aftermarket makes pretty much everything else

When I say they are reliable, when I picked up my automag, I'm pretty sure it was in storage for a decade, with it's last rebuild who knows when. I put oil in it and it ran great. Mags are the kind of marker that you stand a better chance of messing it up by doing an unneeded rebuild over oiling it and playing. That said, a lot of people get in trouble by trying to.p over-tune a mag. They get an x valve and try to tune the piss out of it to squeeze every last bit of performance out. Don't. Get it working reliably and leave it alone.

Our very own superman has everything you need to get a mag built

** for those sending me a pm, please name it something other than "automag parts" in the title.I currently have 4 active conversations with the same and or similar titles. Be creative, or not, just don't name it automag parts. lol just trying to keep the parts straight.** Thanks dudes Minimum Purchase of $30 please

    1) black ule body $150
This will get you center feed and autococker threaded barrels along with being able to put a clamping feedneck

    2) ccm clamping feedneck $25

    3) classic valve $60 basic and super reliable. These are steel bodies so they are fairly heavy, that's I've of the major advantages to the x valves. X valves are aluminum but you can see the price difference

    4) cut carbon frame $15 if you want a double trigger or uncut $40 if your want single

    5) automag/minimag rail $25

You'll need a sear (superman knows the compatibility better than I do, certain rails require different sears) $30 at the most from agd and done grips

From there, run whatever ASA you want and you can also run a gas through forgrip if you want

So yeah, probably a touch over $300 and you can build a mag

From there you can upgrade to an intelli frame, x valve, longer rail or go pump or electro if your heart desires.

That's where I started. I stole my mag at $125 with an x valve already in it and then replaced pretty much everything until it was where it is today. It would probably sell around $800 today

I still prefer classic valves over X and RT valves. They're so simple, and they shoot really well.

Also, good old stock AGD carbon fiber trigger frames are some of the best, and some of the cheapest available.

You just can't go wrong with an Automag.

Mags are just awesome guns. Maybe it's the weight, but you can really feel the quality. I've never felt a need to upgrade to the newer valves, the old stainless steel ones work just fine.

I like to throw in an R/T on/off for a lighter trigger pull, and a level 10 for the shitty modern paint.

Had one out last weekend and it turned a LOT of heads and performed perfectly.

You folks are the bestest. I'll send superman a message as well about getting the bits to build one, because I need some more projects apparently.

All the good mechs are great. The emek really feels like a battle tool or at least my etha 2 did. I really like them. Mags are great but they are inefficient and that is a drag for me, because I like to use a 45/45 tank and when I'm playing semi auto that is pretty low capacity for bigger games.

There is a lot of awesome mech guns out there these days. Its a great time to play paintball.

      Cheap empire rezzy autocockers
      regular 2k autocockers
      emeks
      automags

      Good stuff.

MrBarraclough Here are some pics I have on my phone. I can snap some without the grips when I get home. I bought it this way from a grow MCBer, and the person he bought it from did the work.

EDIT: added a picture of underneath the grip. I can get more upon request.

That's really cool. Haven't had any issues with the trigger tail rubbing against the internal hose?

Nada. There's actually a little space between them. Like, 1/8" or so.

Gog eNMEy, 3 screws removed to get to this point. The air comes in from the black tube going all the way to the right. It goes into the cylinder looking piece (letā€™s call that a valve) from that tube, and then 2 tubes come out of the valve. The black tube coming out the back is actually hard plastic built into the valve. It looks like it is a direct path from the black tube in the front, so no crazy paths the flow has to flight. The blue tube is smaller. That puts air in front of the bolt and returns it. A little pin molded into the trigger pushes the valve from the bottom and vents the air in the blue tube allowing the air behind the bolt to move it forward. The blue tube is sealed off from the incoming while the valve is venting, so it you hold the trigger it doesnā€™t just dump air.

I added an on/off, a clamping neck, and a Freak barrel and have enjoyed this silly little market ever since. Itā€™s fun, reliable, and easy to maintain. The tube in the plastic body for the clamping neck to grab broke, so I milled off the top, threaded the inside of the plastic for a different clamping neck, and just recently have found 3 tiny cracks in the body around this neck, so it isnā€™t secure anymore and really opens the cracks with a full Revvy tipped at an angle. I want to tap the metal firing can like I had to do with my other eNMEy when I put an Ion body kit on it.

I plan on modding an Ion body onto my eNMEy eventually. I've heard the v1's had weak feed necks, but the v2's fixed that. I have both, and honestly haven't experienced any issues. Yet...

I think the GOG enemy is probably an awesome gun, but sadly it's from the scum bags behind smart parts so I can't recommend them to anyone.

I get the hate, and Iā€™m with you, but itā€™s not like the Gardiner boys would see any money from a used eNMey sale.

I'm with you 100%. I picked mine up second hand. The v2 cost me $80, the v1 with a few mods cost around $120. Adam and Billy didn't get a dime from me.

I feel the same way about the Gardners and would never touch a Shocker or Luxe for that reason, except I still recommend the eNMEy to kids if they cannot afford an EMEK. It's rank hypocrisy to give the eNMEy a pass, I'm sure, but the eNMEy is just so superior to everything in its sub-$200 price class. For kids who don't have the cash for something better, I feel like I shouldn't ask them to forego a marker that is a good fit for them because I hold a grudge about something the Gardners did before they were born. I'd rather that I be a hypocrite than that they miss out.

I tell myself that the Gardners owe the paintball world something positive to atone for their sins, and that offering a reliable, easy to maintain marker cheaply is just such a thing.

Yeah, if you want a project the automag is 100% the best option mentioned here. Every single thing is upgradable and there's fairly noticeable gains. The resurrection can be upgraded but the gains are a less noticeable because the stock resurrection is good on its own. You can typically pick up a fairly standard mag for around $160 these days but that's side feed and twist lock barrels, neither of which you seemed interested in

100% how I feel as well. Besides that I just don't like how much plastic is in the design. The valve body should have never been made of plastic, they are a constant problem. I feel they are good for a season and after that pretty much the whole thing is a big question mark. Dessert is experiencing some of that above.

Mags are fun but they do not have the bang for your buck like they use to. You can buy a Emek new for the cost of a used Xvalve. Even high end Mags donā€™t out perform any of the new Mechs in any way unless you count resale. Letā€™s be honest.

Not trying to talk you out if anything. Just know the reason everyone recommends the Emek for everything is because itā€™s hands down the best deal in paintball and punches way above its weight class.

$500 might build you a pretty nice Mag tho so itā€™s really up to what your looking for. I love my Mag even tho I have been struggling to get my Xvalve rebuilt. But Post some pictures of whatever you choose, When you figure it out.

People confuse ā€œeasily to maintainā€ with ā€œfamiliarityā€ anything is easy if you know how. Mags are very reliable after you get them setup. But there are a bunch of proprietary parts in that valve and they all got to jive just right. Itā€™s not plug and play by any means.

I came into my mag having never worked on one. Got a rebuild kit from agd and while it needed some break in, it's never had any huge problems. It's been great. But yeah starting out, I do recommend a classic valve

Personally, if I was coming in with no experience and no real nostalgic attachment to anything then Iā€™d go Emek too. This is coming from a die hard mag guy who loves using the old, heavy, vintage trio of AGD goodness (Automag, Minimag, RT Classic).

However, I think the Emek is just generally better in almost every way, at least by a small amount, if you strip away any nostalgia from the equation. And it damn well should be, since the Automag design is a tad over thirty years old now!

However, if your on this forum than your probably more than a little susceptible to nostalgia, so maybe a mag would be a better choice! I still end up shooting my mags far more than my Emek.

Agreed. I love my mag and would never part with it. But it gets only occasional use now, usually for the nostalgia factor. I feel a little guilty about it, but my EMEK has firmly taken over as my primary shooter.

That's exactly how I feel about my Gmek. I love that gun. It's phenomenal, and it's become my most used gun. But I'll always be loyal to Automags. Until that Gmek, my mags were always my go-to. I feel like I'm having an affair, but I can't help it.

          Small update-
ProStock is off to Hellion for tuning, and he is sending to BMC for a feedneck mod. I'm still keeping my eyes open for a Mag and/or Etha 3m, but not super high on my list currently (foundation repairs are expensive )
