Does grease have a shelf life

So I started rebuilding a black magic reg and then realized that the lube I have is like 10 or so years old, it's lurker lube if it matters but I doubt it, so does lube have a shelf life or is it good for life as long as it's not in the elements, it looks fine but I just wanna make sure so I don't have to tear my cocker back apart later

I don't believe most paintball grease has a shelf life. I'm still using Lurker Lube and Smart Parts grease without issues. I also have GoG grease and it looks identical to the SP stuff despite being many years newer (but the same Dow33 formula).

Not really, but sometimes the solvents separate and need to be mixed in.

Only time I remember having expired grease was some old wheel bearing grease. It was like sticky peanut butter. Really old stuff though.

open to air, it could dry out.
Sealed, solvents can separate from the base.

        is it dry?
when you use it, does liquid come out 1st like a squeeze bottle of ketchup?

if no to both, you should be fine.
if yes to either, you should probably replace it (for best results)

I never worried about it. I got some old monkey poo I have had forever haven’t noticed a difference in performance. If I want it thinner I add a lil oil. But it’s the same consistency it’s been for 20+ years.

This dow 33 is almost old enough to drink. I got it in 06, and it's still the same.

If it's labelled as "sleek lube" and white/creamy looking then it's still a baby.... you need the old aluminum toothpaste tube of dow thats pink, now that tube can buy itself a drink.

                  in theory, yes ...
but in paintball application, if it hasn't been left on the window seal in the sun for the last decade, its fine 👍

Regular Dow 33, Dow Molykote 33 and Dow 55 all have a shelf live of ~5 years technically but I have used it in many applications for considerably longer. If it is still pure white, not separating or have lumps from drying out for our applications I would not hesitate to use it. That being said the stuff is damn cheap if you stay clear of the paintball marketed stuff.
