-The problem with a lot of air tool oils is they dry out. The lighter ends eventually evaporate, leaving behind a sticky residue. Back in the day, there were a lot of Gold Cup type oils, where somebody bought a drum of the cheapest industrial air-tool oil they could find, and a wagonload of dropper bottles.
Thing is, air-tool oil is meant for, oddly enough, air tools. And in industrial settings, it's not a case of you drip a few drops into the tool, hook up the hose and go to work. It's a case of your air tool is connected to a device which meters a small amount of oil into the compressed air, keeping the tool constantly lubed.
In such cases, nobody cares how long the oil lasts or whether it dries up or not.

Makes sense. Palmer used it in that way. Drop it in and gas it up every time. Like an air tool.
But I also used KC trouble free oil. It definitely has ATF in it, and ATF is super duper stable and designed to keep intricate O rings and seals running perfectly, for as close to indefinitely as possible. Probably straight ATF (automatic transmission fluid) would be good paintball oil. If not straight, than maybe some mixed concoction.
Most of the paintball lubes use a major industrial lube like Dow 33 and some ATF or other thinning agent or something else..plus color die to make it personalized.Comment
