I just "made" a 50.cal cocker pump. If I felt confident enough could I use it at the event, or is it .68 only? I'd make the cocker compliant on all the other rules as well.

I don't there's a caliber restriction, but since this is Slim 's thing he's the man with the knowledge. -
Either way bring it cause I wanna see it. Only issue I see is field paint on Day Two but I think AG offers 50cal paintball as well so you may need to get a bag of each. But it’s up to Slim.

From a "maintaining the original spirit of the game" aspect, I have no issues with special requests like this. My only concern would be chrono speeds and if the refs would be faced with having to make special exceptions at the chrono table which might lead to some confusion. Obviously, avoiding arguments at the event is a high priority, especially when it comes to field staff. So, I called AG to get a definitive answer and it's been explained that due to insurance regulations, I can allow any type of pellet projecting device I want at the event, but they all need to chrono under 280 FPS. This means that guns shooting pellets under 68 caliber will be at a significant disadvantage (especially when it comes to range) given their lighter mass, and there will be NO EXCEPTIONS MADE to exceed the field FPS limit.
So, feel free to bring along whatever, but go into it knowing you may be at a disadvantage right off the bat. Given the skill level of most of the participants, I'd recommend against giving yourself any type of handicap, but that's just me.
AG also made me aware that the paintball guns made by UMAREX do NOT have any type of velocity adjustment capability. Apparently, the 50 cal pistols/revolvers will chrono well over 300 FPS and there is no way to get that speed down. Conversely, the UMAREX .68 caliber shotgun will chrono around 200FPS with no way to turn that speed up. So, if you invested in a UMAREX gun, be aware that the 50 cal pistols won't be allowed as they exceed the FPS limit mandated by the field's insurance, and that the shotgun may only be effective at extremely close ranges.
I'm very glad I didn't "pull the trigger" on that purchase!
See what I did there?
I made a pun!
I'm so clever!Comment

I really appreciate you going above and beyond finding a definitive answer.
One thing you forgot though, if I was shooting on average 0 people per game, giving myself a disadvantage will not have any effect on the overall results!
I have a umarex .50 cal revolver and I bought the velocity adjuster made by a member here. If I get that at a steady <280fps, is that allowed to be used? During these games?
Can I mention how pumped I am to play another Slim event? (See what I did there?).
I have 4 friends that plan on coming out to play stock class for the first time during this event! We can't wait! -
I got the opportunity to try the .68 double barrel. A ref offered a challenge to try to fet one elimination with the thing. It was very cold, and the paintballs fit very tight, so it became a splatter gun. When it didn't break paint, it had a VERY limited range. Needless to say I didn't win the refs challenge, which would have netted me a frosty cold Gatorade (which I don't touch the stuff anyway)

As long as the marker falls within the stock-class guidelines AND chronos under 280, then you are free to use whatever. If anyone wants to use a marker that chronos well under 280, then that's on them.Comment

First strike rounds are not permitted.
As stated in the OP, we will be playing by the new stock-class 2.0 rule set. The complete 2.0 rules can be found here:

Players are welcome to arrive at the field late Friday afternoon (4PM) and set up for the weekend. When you arrive, please check in with Aric, the field owner, and he’ll tell you where it’s cool to park. Trailers are welcome.Comment

I'll be trying to make the trip. Might not even play, might just come to see people, we will see.

I miss seeing our Canadian friends at these events. Remember when all of the Spring Stock Classics were billed as "the United States vs. Canada"? The venue has moved even closer to the Canadian border than ever before, and has become a two day event with all sorts of added features, so I had hoped that would inspire even more Canadians to attend (pre-Covid). Unfortunately, we haven't seen them.
If any of you are in touch with any of the guys who have made the trip down from Canada in the past, please contact them and ask them to attend this year. Let's make this event as epic as possible!Comment

I know a lot are planning on attending however border crossing has been difficult due to Covid restrictions. Not sure what the status is currently but I’m hoping we can get some of our northern friends down for some Stock Class fun!
Third of Five MAr hope to play with you gentlemen again!Last edited by Chuck E Ducky; 04-13-2022, 06:27 PM.Comment
