My new favorite thing in Paintball.

Are ZoomDots still paintball? That’s a question for the Mag Vs Cocker guys to figure out. What I can say about them is they are definitely fun to shoot. Especially this way.

About a year or so I took this on trade from a teammate Arctic who picked it up here from another member it’s been passed around a bit. ih8cornuts did the body mods and mounted the rail and had a custom rifled barrel made to fit the Phantom body. And for that I Thank Him.

After putting it threw it’s paces I noticed it could use a lil love to make it that much better. It was an awesome concept all the right parts it just need a lil love. I plugged the feedneck hole that gave me 40 fps boost this should do wonders for efficiency. I noticed there was no valve spring when the cup seal backed off the power tube in the cold. I was surprised it worked so well without one for so long only gave me an issue in 28* weather. The 12g must give it enough pressure to hold the valve closed when warm. But I want that valve closing quick for more efficiency because it’s a 12g only marker for now. I had some binding and grinding on the body cut with use so I added a Teflon washer to the handle that really smoothed out the action and eliminated the body wear with a replaceable sleeve. I’m on the hunt for a ball bearing i found some in the RC car industry that may work. It’s so much smoother now so this will definitely work. I then added a shotgun Hi VIZ shooting systems front sight I got off Amazon for $20. I’m using the windowed custom rail ih8cornuts made for the rear sight. And Hotdog we got a Winner! It’s effective, very effective with a killer sight picture and a fantastic field of view. I also added a stock to aid in accuracy.

She’s a Tac driver, and my new favorite thing in paintball.

Time to Club some Gravy Seals.

Glad you’re making tweaks and loving it man! It’s such a crazy light setup compared to the standard fsr delivery systems you see out there. That hi viz looks amazing with the window rail! And just so credit goes where it’s due, I bought that from blackrain, but the original milling and build was done by ih8cornuts.

That high Viz looks awesome 👍

But be careful, I went from a homebrew FSR bolt action phantom to an SSR ...
Love my brass ... Love my SSR ... Hard choices ...

That looks like such a fun marker, and a fair compromise considering the advantage first strike rounds provide. Do you notice a change in efficiency from roundball to FSR? And how do you carry the rounds during a game?

Honestly not sure on shot count but my numbers are plenty good enough to make it practical to run 12g even in the cold. Most of the time I shooting it it’s been cold 30* but I pick up about +25fps going from round to FS. Time between shots is long so it gives the co2 lots of time to expand. So I should get a really good shot count especially after I plugged that feedneck hole. I went from TPC in almost all the way in to flush now. I just grab them one at a time out of a dump pouch on a belt. We have been experimenting trying to replicate a pez style dispenser but I find it easy just to grab them out of a pouch.

I like the mobility I get out of it. It fits my play style perfectly. Especially for the times I use it. I had a Dam and shot threw like two cases of First Strikes the first time I used it. It was a fun expensive day filled with many eliminations. I sold the Dam after that day out with it.

This just feels more sportsmanlike. I like that this slows me down. I don’t need a big scope and all the extra accessories. I did just fine point shooting them even at longer ranges. I can’t wait to see how this new setup works on the field. I can definitely hit my mark consistently in the backyard. This barrel even works really well for standard paintballs Surprisingly well.

I really want that CCM bolt action that fits in real rifle stock m40 or whatever but I can’t justify it for how often I use it. I actually like the home brew refined jank of it. Definitely going to be shooting this when FS are allowed.

Love it. And that sight picture is prime.
Rockin' a Phantom and a T2...CCI & CCM for the win.

ChuckLove , if you make a bolt action, do it out of a SC body. I had made mine out of a direct feed that the feedneck snapped off of. It still worked, but the opening is a little too big and the bolt binds a bit when you go to cock it. Chuck E Ducky ‘s is SIGNIFICANTLY smoother then mine ever was.

I would use an ASP cocker body as the barrel on this one was special made to fit a phantom. Cocker body you can buy a rifled barrel off the shelf.

Added a 10ci on a custom buttstock I made up to attach on the CCI L stock shaft. Got a dummy 12g in the drop out to some braided line I had that’s a lil to long may try for a hard line setup eventually. But one screw I can take the buttstock off and switch back to 12g. Everything is all tucked up out of the way nicely should work good if i happen to need it in the cold and don’t want to burn threw 12g.

Chuck E Ducky how do you like that finish compared to anodizing ?

                  #14
So Cerokote is very durable. I would go as far as to say it’s more durable when applied correctly.

However I would only use it on something that was already anodized. Because Anodizing actually hardens the aluminum and it allows all surfaces to get coated including inner surfaces that Cerokote can not be applied to.

Let’s say a raw Autocker body was to get cerokoteed all the surfaces the hammer and bolt ride on would be raw this is terrible for longevity. But if it was already anodized Cerokote is a great option for resurfacing a marker in Dust finishes. It currently won’t allow for a deep polished shine. But you can get color options like pure white, color shift, metallics and such that you can’t get with traditional Ano. It can also be applied to plastics so you can literally get it to stick to anything.

In short I think it’s a great option, it’s durable, and inexpensive option. Key is getting it applied properly.

I highly recommend Bearfoot Coatings They are doing some really cool stuff with the FX series line of coatings.
