Lately I've been starting the day with something semi-auto or OC pump, but ending the day with my SC Phantoms. It's amazing the snap shots you can make after you feel "dialed-in".

All the time. My phantoms are my go to, occasionally I will mix it up with my oracle pump. It's nice to have three in different configs so you don't have to part swap at the field.Comment

Phantom is a great only-gun.
Hard for a CCM pump gun to transition to the firmer pump stroke of the phantom, but after a game or two you will be on-point.
Gotta appreciate how great the pump stroke is and how damn consistent they are WITH NO REGULATOR on unregged co2 or direct input HPA. They are as pure as it gets.Comment

I play it most open games But never a scenario. Its accurate and doesn’t need an apex to curve shots “down” in an arc so it can drop behind bunkers.
I play open class usually as it’s competitive in that form verses battery powered. Stock class gets rushed on reload of 8 balls.Comment

when i could play all time it was my main gun to use. i brought spare pumps with just in case someone want to try phantom or other pump guns. it will still be my main weapon in till i know surgery on top head is better and not soft to skull.

I use mine in rec play and against gravity fed hoppers. Usually woods ball is my preferred field but close quarters it is also my marker of choice.Comment

It has seen field time once in the last 5 years. My sniper is there for pump purposes. Then I bring semis.
If I play stock class it is with brass. I shoot the Sheridan better than the Phantom.

I have played all this season with my phantom ,but she sat out ION.almost forgot just how cool phantoms are since I usually use my karnivor pump.light,dependable, and accurate.For a gun as old as she is in this sport ,she definately has stood the test of time.would and do put her up against whatever is on the field with no problems.A true classic .Comment

Just played Sunday for my limited time to play with the Phantom. Solid preformer.
Anyone notice that the velocity is way higher with CO2 than Compressed Air? I'm still working to get a higher velocity with my 13 ci air tank.
Any suggestions from air tank players?Comment

CO2 has more potential energy and tends to get higher velocities, especially out of guns like the Phantom that have a high-ish operating pressure. Do you know what the output on your 13ci is? They tend to prefer 800-850psi so if you're lower than that you could struggle. Having a tighter bore barrel will help, I love CCI stock barrels, but since switching to a .681 Lapco I have had a much easier time hitting field velocity with HPA. -
CO2 gas has ~1.5 times the density of air so imparts more energy into the ball for a given volume and pressure. So if you spring your Phantom for HPA and just change from HPA to CO2 you should see a jump in velocity (that is given same atmospheric conditions, altitude and paint) and vice versa if you spring for CO2 and switch to HPA with no changes velocity will drop. I run Phantoms on both CO2 and HPA that is why I have more then one so I don't need to swap springs I just use the Phantom set up for the gas of the day.

My phantom is my only marker so yes, that being said now and then my gf will sit out for a round and I use her emek for a change of pace. For the most part I'm playing stock class as my local field has a mix of experience levels most days.Comment

Make sure the output on the HPA tank is high enough, usually 850psi or so.
The Phantom is in my gearbag every time I go out. I've been dabbling with other guns that I keep thinking will offer something else but they either develop a problem or they just don't feel right in the end.
This past weekend I brought out my reacquired pump mag. It ended up with a velocity issue first game and then I played with the Phantom the rest of the day and played better than I was with the pump mag.

Should I change out a spring when changing from CO2 to Compressed Air?
I'll have to look into what parts I need to run compressed air. I never made a change and just upped my output on my bolt using a flat head screw driver.Comment

You don’t have to with the stock silver springs as long as you are feeding the Phantom valve with at least 800psi. If not you will need to change out springs for stiffer ones.
Stock Silver springs sweet spot at 825psi unregulated.
It depends on What springs are you running currently. I run silver and shim my tank regs out to as close to 825psi as I can get on all my phantoms. This way I can swap between air and co2 without messing with springs.
My guess is you have the blue springs in your marker and that’s why you are not getting the velocity. Also check your bolt tip oring is intact and sealing properly on your barrel. 1.5 - 2 turns in from flush on the TPC should get you close to field speed with a good bore to paint match.
I would Order some fresh silver springs from Xtreme Velocity. See if you can test your reg output pressure and see ware you are at.
