    Under-barrel feed Sheridan build

Got another back-burner project I'm starting.

I'm using a chunk of Bluestreak lower tube with a component valve core soldered in, a custom KP bolt that netsurferdude2 made for me, and a bunch of brass tubing. 🙂

So far I've got the individual tubes made up and the feedhole cut in the feedtube.

Mocked up with some tape, to check my spacing will actually work (always nice to verify mental napkin drawings):

And the custom bolt - it's been extended 2" to accommodate the under-barrel feed.

I've gone old-school Walz style on the tubes - I used some leftovers from my KP re-barrel, and I had some other bits and pieces from other builds - so it's the .815 ID tubing sleeved over barrel and feedtube tubing. Makes for one heavy build.

I'm probably going to figure out my own lever setup on it, pump action won't work with the lower feedtube (the pump will interfere with the follower unless I run a string, and I don't want to do that), so this is likely going to be a long-term build.

May be a dumb question ,but how is the air supplied? As usual looking forward to this build.

        Nope, good question. 🙂

I haven't decided where, 100%, but it'll be in-stock. Either my Micro CA in the butt of the stock or a bucket changer inset into the grip.

I'll show what I'm doing to get the air into the valve once that stuff is here - I ordered a tap and a couple fittings.

Cool, and good luck always felt under fed marker idea was really cool but difficult to get to work properly.

Pretty sure I've got it worked out... but time will tell, I guess. 🙂

Dang man, another one I've been toying with for some time. Lever would be the way. Can't wait to see this progress.

I kinda like it with a pump handle but I can't think of a clean way to make it all work yet.

You may be able to try this out:

I think there is enough meat on the pump handle that you could run a slot through the entire length to give clearance to a stud sitting up for the follower. Then create a pusher rod that runs the length of the body back to almost where the lower tube back cap is. That should give you enough room to push the follower to the end through the pump arm.

Run the slot for the spring follower screw at the 2 or 3 o'clock position on the right side the cut the pump slightly less than a regular kp2 handle

If you want me to figure out the angle lmk

I did think about slotting the pump but there's no good way of getting the follower past the pump handle cleanly without adding a bunch of extra bits.
Cutting the side of the pump, like Ecap mentioned, could work but I suspect the handle will want to rotate around without the side support when pumping. And, I want the follower slot bolt on the left side if possible, I load lefty normally.

The original vision for this has always been lever-action so I'll likely stay the course on that, but I do greatly appreciate the input and suggestions, guys - thank you.

Make it pump have the pump arm on the right side.... Be fancy and have a second pump guide rod on the bottom to prevent twisting

In the past I had thought about soldering small brass key stock along the bottom of the bottom tube and milling out a corresponding notch in the pump handle to help with twisting on my old Piranha LB.

You can always go the old way with a pull string out of hte front tube ...

A bit of progress... cut the feedhole in the upper tube and soldered the feedtube on. There's a 3d printed feed ramp in the lower tube, and I installed a feedplug from an old Sheridan in the end.

A quick mockup shows there's no feeding issues, so once I've finished the rest of the build I'm likely going to solder a portion of tubing to enclose the feedholes.

I had a bit of time this past weekend and a burst of inspiration, so I got some more work done.

I used some 5/16" square steel rod and bent it appropriately - pretty much just seat-of-the-pants measurements - until it looked right. I did need to make a couple tweaks to the original part I built - it didn't quite fit right the first time - but it's about what I wanted.

I also made the lever mount out of some brass u-channel that got cut and bent until it fit, then reinforced with some brass bar that got silver soldered on.

Next step will be to mark out and drill for the pivot pin, then hog out some clearance and make up the lever's arm that the bolt linkage will attach to... then decide on how I'm installing the air source.

That looks great Jordan! Would like to see the inside of your lever mount the next time you have it apart. That scratch build lever looks like it could be a factory part, 👌
