For some reason I read this wrong and thought Doc was making a machine to make paintballs lol. I was wondering if shipping them from Alaska made any sense, but then realized they do ship them from Russia.

Good luck with CAD, for some reason e-machineshop is easy for me but, Fusion 360 is so much harder. It is certainly a skill that could come in handy though, I am sort of surprised you aren't already using 3d printers to cast aluminum parts with complex geometries as that is generally what I think of when I think of shoestring budget parts. You get plus points if the aluminum was sourced from soda cans too lol

The other half of the equation! I kept it quiet at the time, but when I bought the CNC lathe, I also bought a VMC, or vertical machining canter.

It's a comparatively tiny one, originally intended to be easily moved around a factory in order to do "second op" type work, or other small jobs if the operator of one of the big machines had a few minutes between part cycles. But that's ideal for me, as I'm very limited on space and power.

And, despite the compact size, it has plenty of travel for any part I can imagine feeding it, an eight-tool changer and a 10K RPM spindle. It, too, was a used machine and I have to do a little freshening up, but I hope to spend a chunk of this month getting it up and running.

      Stick around, more goodies coming!
