I literally posted this as one of the first replies to this thread then deleted it because I didn’t want to be the one who detailed the thread 😂

I had to change the seals on one and I'm pretty sure I just used the tippmann 98/A5 ones you can get anywhere. Part #PA-28

How about some Mag parts? Aluminum reg backs (I think this would be a hit these days) and/or aluminum reg caps. Polished black aluminum detent bodies for Micromags and replacement plastic detents.

      Model98 Platinum vertical ASA.
-Been a while since I fiddled around with a Model 98, or any one of its incarnations. Last I saw, the vertical adapter was mounted in place of the foregrip.

That's another something I'd need to see in person for measuring and fitting. But yeah, I don't see why something like that couldn't be done.

DUKE!! (/ thread) I’m gunna keep pestering you till you make me one Doc!
-That's kind of why I'm asking this. One thing I very much need is practice on these machines, especially the CNC mill. I'd rather 'practice' on getting some small, relatively simple pieces right first, before I jump in and try to make some complex receiver pieces. Only only just getting up to speed with the lathe, but I'm still way green with the mill.

Trust me, I want one done even more than you do.

Are tippmann 68 special cup seals still out there? Would they be hard to whip up? I’d buy some of those too to future proof my special!
I have no idea, to either. But I was also under the impression that they were more or less indestructible. Last time I shot my 68 Special a couple years ago, it worked, sealed and cycled just fine. I can sure crack one open and have a look, but I didn't think they were an issue. (And with Nelson about to shut down even their extremely limited production of .62 caliber, even those very-rarely-used SMGs are soon to be pure wall-hangers.)

There’s a lot of .68 Carbines out there without feednecks.
-Oh? I had no idea. They might be tricky to machine, but I might have to see what I can come up with.

      Don't forget vertical ASAs!
-For Carbines? That was a thing back in a day, as it gave you a place for an expansion chamber, but today? I assume just as a gas-thru and foregrip?

I like your idea of a volumizer for the Mega Z
-Those would be easy. I'd just need to reverse-engineer that connection from the vertical ASA.

Instead of the Magic Box, we could call it the Mega Box.

Well considering there is a thread going on these, they evidently sold out really quick when they were available, and they seem to go for good money I think a gas through autococker frame would be a hit. Guys spend tons of money on their cockers and I think the market would readily jump on a run of gas through frames.

.50 Cal conversion kit for the SMG 60. 3D print some new stripper clips and sleeve the barrel.

I'd imagine if Tippmann cupseals go bad you could probably try making some yourself with some gasket maker and using the brass cup as a mould.

That 98 Platinum VA could be fixed by buying a proper 98

Okay, one thing I'd like to clarify: I'm looking for things that need at least short-run production. You, personally, want a single item? Come talk to me, and I can make you one.

But in this thread, at least for the moment, I'm wondering about something where there'd be maybe a couple dozen sales. I made over a hundred of the Z seals, and fully expected there'd be a small initial rush, and then the rest would basically be a lifetime supply.

I know I'm never going to get rich off of any of this- I'll consider myself lucky if I can break even- but I also don't want to make two dozen parts, sell one to the guy that suggested it, and then sit on the rest until my inevitable- and probably epic- estate sale.

How about some Mag parts? Aluminum reg backs (I think this would be a hit these days) and/or aluminum reg caps. Polished black aluminum detent bodies for Micromags and replacement plastic detents.
-Wait, aluminum reg backs? I thought those had fallen out of style. I seem to recall Superman, or one of the other regular buy-and-sellers, tossing them as scrap because they don't sell.

Reg Caps, sure, I've made a couple over the years. Is there actually any demand?

Detents for Micromags? I'm only aware of the plastic ones with the L-shaped lever. Is there another style? I don't see why I couldn't dupe that... But as before, I'd need to borrow a Micro with a detent to go off of.

How about Micro VASAs? I've been asked for those before, and made one or two a good while back. How about a vertical feed adapter?

Guys spend tons of money on their cockers and I think the market would readily jump on a run of gas through frames.
-A good idea, but a little beyond my current CNC skills right now. I could hand-make you one, but it'd be pretty expensive.

ion pump kit did u say
-I thought those were already being made?

I am working on recreating the solenoid poppets. Had that one on the table for a while now, I ned to bring that one back up the list.

50 Cal conversion kit for the SMG 60. 3D print some new stripper clips and sleeve the barrel.
-3D printing really isn't my thing. It would be theoretically possible to mill them out of Delrin with the CNC, but again, at the moment that might still be a bit out of my league. A barrel insert? That'd be easier of the barrel was removable- might be tricky to make a 50 cal that long- it'd be pretty thin- and fit it in from the front.

It's not really an individual part but if you are feeling adventurous, your own version of the agd 6-pak or ACI turret changer

12g changers are super cool and I think the biggest problem with them is only that not enough people have tried them

-While by no means impossible, it'd take a bit of work to reverse-engineer a 6-Pak. And the biggest problem would be that, in short-run, small-shop quantities, they'd be $500-$600 each- and I'd still only make maybe $40 or $50 in profit.

Like I said earlier, I know I'm not gonna get rich off of this kind of thing, but I gotta make something. Utilities get a little snitty when they don't get paid- as does the cat when he doesn't get fed.

12g changers are super cool and I think the biggest problem with them is only that not enough people have tried them
-Hey, I'm a big fan myself. But if it came down to $500 for a 6-Pak, since I'd be playing more or less open class anyway... well, a 13ci is a LOT cheaper.

As I said, I'm toying around with my own lever changer design, basically the ICD with a few tweaks, intending them to be fitted to Dukes, if that thing ever gets off the ground. If it's not stepping too hard on ICD's toes, I may see about offering a standalone.

Again, though, small shop, small-run production, they won't be all that inexpensive.

I still want a Nelson version of those ICD lever valve adapter thingys.
Those are, point in fact, already next up on the list, after I finish up this current batch of Freak Backs.

Other ideas: I'm surprised no one's suggested Mod.85 ammo.

On one hand, I'd love to sit down and design some all-new cases, probably aluminum, and with a "captive" primer, so the little primer cups can't go flying and be lost when you shoot. I think it can be done.

On the other hand, if I made them, in my little shop, they'd be $10 each, maybe more. Even contracting out to a shop with high speed, bar-fed machines, I'm not sure we could get 'em much under $2 each- and even then, that's only if we order tens of thousands.
