You really don't see this talked about anymore, but I was reminded of this when coming across old posts on other forums talking about how efficient certain regulators are, then throw out these silly anecdotal claims of one reg getting +/- 5 but oh, this nicer more expensive one can get +/- 2!!!!
+/- regulator claims

Unless I can get paint that aint egg shaped, dimpled like a golf ball, or so brittle it breaks inside the hopper running to the bunker. F all this noise about what gear has the best "performance"! XDComment

The fact people fall for (not pulling punches let's name names) powerhouses crazy expensive regs marketing is beyond me.
This $200 reg will get you +/- 2 fps!!
Bruh.... Paint is barely+/-.015 lately never mind round

I’d say you don’t see it talked about anymore because you can’t replace the reg on any of today’s high end guns. The people buying high end guns were the people looking to buy things like that and that option has been taken away.Comment

No reg can make crap paint shoot better. But I still have my favorites when it comes to choosing one. I don’t mind paying for quality and reliability, I know it when I see it.
I like nice stuff, so shoot me…. (If yah can)Comment

one of the reasons we always published chrono with our tests.
1. was to show we measured it and cared.
2. was to show how actually inconsistent guns really are.Comment

My marker could be shooting +-20fps and I would not care as long as it shot under the field limit. Velocity does not mean anything if the balls are hooking close too 90 degrees less than 50 feet after leaving the barrel.Last edited by MrKittyCatMeowFace; 10-18-2023, 04:47 PM.Comment

And there it is.
Marker specific parts mean you have nothing to compare
Really there's no reason why the industry can't have standardized gas through grip ASAs or on grip regulators to be universal but that would mean companies would have to talk and agree so, what are you going to do?

We basically did have that up until starting about 10 years ago with the LV1 and the hoseless trend. I'm not sure if Eclipse was the first but I feel like they at least took it from a couple boutique shops into the mainstreamDulce et decorum est pro comoedia moriOriginally posted by Phantom1313now you can loudly shout “I know things” and nobody can argue with you when you wildly wave your masters degree in front to themComment

Planet Eclipse was laughably late to the hoseless game. The Invert Mini and the LUXE were the first [modern] hoseless guns. The LV1 and Geo 3.1 (which weren't truly hoseless) were a good 3-4 years behind the real trend setters. There were something like 10 different, and very popular, hoseless designs out before PE came out with the A/T pipe.
I agree with the sentiment, just disagree that Eclipse isn't the culprit.Comment

Paint quality > pressure regulation.
I only worry about pressure regulation if the marker absolutely needs it. To me, extra regulators are just another thing to go wrong, and I don’t buy into the LP hype. If I actually need one I tend to go with what is easily rebuildable and/or or is known to be bulletproof.Comment

phantoms with only a tank reg can get good numbers. id assume snipers can get consistent too.Comment

Paint quality aside, regs are important. Let's say you get a few dirty fills and your tank reg is bouncing all over the place, a palmers stab will handle it better than most. iirc Glen said for every 70psi drop in the tank pressure you have a 1fps change in velocity - 70:1 - I wonder what some of these modern in-grip regs are at.Comment
