The BEST Co2 Gun ever made!??

Just wondering, if you old fella's had to vote, what gun was the Pinnacle of CO2 technology?

Was it a Liquid CO2 gun like the Tippmann 68 Special, or Montneel Mega-Z ?

Or does a 68-Automag with Classic Valve, a Whispering Death ex chamber, and matching anti siphon co2 tank take the crown?

Well , I have always and still think my Montneel and my buddies were by far what we found was the only thing to use in Connecticut winter weather all those years ago. They love cold liquid CO2 and just rip. This is my fun backyard Z1 that gets play time in the backyard field with my kids.

It's funny that you would post this. The pump at the local has been down for a couple of months needing repair. It was fixed this past weekend so HPA is back but I had been playing around with a CO2 classic mag anyway. In my own opinion the mag isn't particularly an ideal platform for CO2 so far as dependability is concerned but where it comes to a good shooter experience with certain limitations in mind, they do very well. For markers I am personally familiar with I think the Tippmann valve with the dump screw is one of the best for easy velocity control using the gas.

With that said CO2 is under-rated for it's usability and versatility. With a few precautions it will shoot fine out of a LOT of markers and lasts so much longer. I love using it in the summer where available and often carry tanks with me to scenarios. No one fills them any more, sadly.

Brass Eagle Blade? ... Okay, okay. I dont know. But I look forward to everyones discussion on the topic. Returning to paintball and finding no CO2 refills anywhere was odd. HPA tanks are much cheaper now, where as before it seemed like the rich mans option. I feel like at the turn of the century it was Tippmann 98s and A5's with 20oz tanks on them.

I like the small tanks, you can pack a lot of shot in a 4oz ...
Always had great results with most nelson including the semis, But all my CO2 goes through Sheridans.
Are they the best technological marker using CO2? ... No ... But properly regulated, you can use CO2 with pretty much any markers ...

In terms of tech, the Montneel comes to mind as some semi pistol (sidekick, tipx, t8/9, ariakin and alike)

I'm going with stock class and early 90s carter comps and buzzards, Line SI Bushmasters and PPS super stockers for best CO2 powered markers. I suppose a Typhoon as well for mechanical semis on CO2.

Well, Phantoms & properly tuned/well built Nelsons are definitely in the running, as well as Montneels. (though I don't have any experience with Montneels, just what I've read)

I think the CVX valve Tippmann came up with was a darn good idea. It was easy to control velocity & it just worked. It was good enough to be built into multiple generations of Tippmanns. Something to be said for that. Was it the best? Probably not, but it definitely deserves a mention.

This makes me remember the "best blowback technology" and "most influential" threads from a while back. It's not quite to that scale, but it seems top me like different eras had different ways of doing it. A Montneel with a siphon bottle was great, to be sure. But around 2000-2004? I'd say the CVX valve.

EDIT: Was having a discussion with some peeps about something kinda-sorta-maybe similar a couple nights back. It was about LPA/HPA bottles & markers that used LPA input pressures. In my mind, the masses want something that is standardized & simply works. Sure, LPA has it's place in certain niches & I have no issue with it's existence (there's obviously some market for it), but people are always wanting the most convenient & cost-efficient thing. I'm sure that kept at least some individuals from buying later-model Angels unless you were already invested in LPA. With Tippmann's marketing ability & CVX valve it's no surprise that the simple, durable, cheap & co2-friendly 98 Customs were so popular.

I'm going with the Tippmann inline blowbacks for #1 best CO2 gun. They just always worked and surprisingly consistent on Co2. 2nd place would be Spyders with a vertical bottle. I had a Compact 2000 that shot lasers with the stock barrel and a 20oz vertical tank.
