How to remove and install the Front Sleeve and locking nose clip on a Deadlywind MOAB X8 barrel. Cutaway barrel for easier viewing!

Deadlywind released the MOAB (Mother of All Barrels) X8

M.O.A.B. - the Mother Of All Barrels.

The MOAB - Mother Of All Barrels - is the latest revolutionary barrel from Deadlywind LLC.
The MOAB is nothing like any other barrel before.
The MOAB is a patent pending dual-layer barrel design.
The MOAB utilizes a clean monolithic ultra-lightweight carbon fiber outer sleeve which houses, protects, and isolates the internal barrel components.
The MOAB can use either PWR or Freak XL inserts.
The MOAB uses a unique internally ported front sleeve available in multiple bore sizes to perfectly pair with the rear insert bore.
The MOAB is field strippable for full cleaning.
The MOAB can be used with the widest range of guns - uses the existing Deadlywind X-series threaded backs (AC only for PWR inserts).
The MOAB, although it resembles a suppressor, has been cleared by the BATFE for sales and use on all paintball guns.
The MOAB is not susceptible to external port-clogging elements such as precipitation or bunker paint.
The MOAB is available at 14” (14.5” for PWR) and weighs 75 grams without an insert (PWR/XL inserts add 20-25 grams).
The MOAB has been vetted by all levels of paintball players as well as the BATFE and USPTO.

    The MOAB consists of:
    - A Carbon Fiber outer sleeve with our X-series compatible LEFT handed universal threads.
    - Your option of gun threads and insert type to attach to the universal threads (AC threads are only available with PWR inserts).
    - Your option(s) of bore on the ported front internal sleeve (0.685, 0.690, 0.695).
    - A unique field-strippable front nose clip.
    - Available separately or add-on: Control bore insert(s) (PWR or Freak XL).

Extra ported internal front sleeves available here.

Note- You MUST use a PWR or a Freak XL insert with this barrel.
PWR configuration is available only in AC threads.
Freak XL configuration is available for many different gun threads.
Gun threads are set using our existing X-series threaded backs (same as FiburX and FiburX8).
Ported internal front sleeves should ideally be around 0.005" larger than the control (PWR or Freak XL) bore.

I ordered one and will report back.

Directed at DW: Why? Why do I need to protect and isolate the internal barrel components?

Jake, you know first hand from playing during rainy days at PBC...a trash bag and duct tape over the porting work great to keep you shooting straight.

Ported internally, covered up outside? Too many parts. Thread adapter, inserts, front internal bore, outer sleeve thing with a nose clip.

That's a lot of parts for a tube

I really like DW barrels and have used them for years. This seems like a definite wait and see. I'm not sure what problem this fixes.

It's a rain cover. Like an old taso from back in the late 80s early 90s. Similar to a carter whoosh but not a giant can on the outside.

So it's neat...but I don't see why anyone would want to add the extra girth and complexity to the end. I like the current dw barrels because they are a tube with no frills. I feel like a barrel break mid game could never get cleaned out and would just leach in after you squegee/ fuzzy brush it.

wrapping the internal ported section in tissues should make it into a pretty slick integrated suppressor

That's what we call a rain cover. This is indeed, a modern, integrated rain cover.

It’s like a 1/16 gap, putting anything material in their would just make it louder

Been awhile since I ordered anything from DW.
This looks pretty cool, maybe I'll get some in and test it out.
Need Inception Designs or Shocktech Products? Let me know!

That does seem to be the only reason for this barrel to exist. For anyone who wants a Whoosh or similar this would be the available modern option.

Looks like they beat Price to the punch line on the double insert barrel.

Until they alter the deal and then shoot your dog for you having a multi part tube for your paintball gun...

More like the Frankenstein of all barrels. I don’t understand why we need these complexities in a barrel. For the rain cover look, I thought CK did a great job - https://www.ckfightlife.com/products...ieldone-barrel
