I purchased a parted out SL74 a few months ago in hopes of bringing it back to life. The hardest part was tracking down a solenoid for it and I didn't want to buy a used gun just to part it out.
Instead, I designed a manifold for it to use a LV1.6/LV2 solenoid and gasket. The only tweaks I made to the solenoid was sanding down the screw retainer slots and screw heads for it to fit the frame, as I didn't want to modify the frame in any way. Also, I designed a voltage regulator circuit to drop the output voltage of the ego board from 5V to 3.3V and added JST connectors to make it plug and play.
I don't have shooting videos of it yet, but I've had it ramping at 15bps with no issues. Currently, it's set to 10.2bps for local play.
I've added a black SL3 reg, feedneck, and pops asa. I couldn't track down any reasonably priced QEV's, so instead I added some banjo barb fittings from McMaster-Carr. Next, it'll be off the anno.
Let me know what you guys think of it. I have two manifolds and a few voltage regulator boards left, but I can get some more made if there are any interest.
UPDATE (3/31/2026):
Copied from FB:
For those that I like to tinker and create, I am sharing my LV2 solenoid conversion files for Ego's 7-8. As for the files for Egos 9-10 and 11, as soon as I get the manifolds in and tested, I will be sharing those as well. Egos 9-10 will require very minor frame milling. The conversion for the Ego 11 is a full drop in replacement with no milling, sanding, or drilling required.
This started out as a passion project for myself to revive an old SL74, but I didn't think it would garner so much interest. This has taken up a lot of my time away from family hence why I'm sharing these files to everyone.
Have at it. Share, create, enjoy.
