Currently playing Delta Force mobile. It's also on PC. All my gaming is mobile these days out of necessity but honestly if this is what mobile games are then I'm not missing out.

It's the closest thing to a genuine battlefield style game on mobile, and it has destruction physics(!) and minimal (or zero) p2w elements that I can find. Everything is cosmetic. I'm fine with them charging $300+ for a gun skin to some idiot so I can play for free if there's no P2W.

They've basically decided to do what COD doesn't, focusing on an extraction mode and a BF style warfare mode rather than the BR and squad MP modes COD goes for. I'm all about warfare.

So far I much prefer it to COD. The guns somehow feel and sound more real (based on experience), and the character classes are more fun. Effective use of smoke really, really matters. There are no stupid score streaks. Weapon customization is endless and that includes a surprising amount of vehicle customization - you can set up your M1 tank with different types of ammunition, different secondary weapons, drones etc. I'm having a blast just running around being a medic and blowing up the occasional helo with a hilariously placed tank round.

Yes there are lots of bots, but I just think of it like a moba with creeps who make for easy kills. Normally the number of human players in each team of 24 is balanced.

Finished the story mode for Terror Of Hemasaurus this weekend. Really fun little Rampage clone. Short but sweet. I just wish there had been more to it. Needed way more variety in the levels. They’re all essentially the same, really only adding a new enemy vehicle here & there. Well worth $5.00 or less. Maybe I’m a sociopath but i couldn’t help but giggle every time i tossed a human into the blades of a helicopter & heard it make the same sound as a lawn mower running over a small tree stump.

Been playing Serious Sam The First Encounter on Switch the last few days. I like straight forward old school FPS where the story is basically irrelevant & the majority of the game is just wading through enemies. I think I’m almost done with it & I'm definitely going to start the sequel right away.

Visions of Mana on PS5. Fun gameplay and stunning graphics. You get mindfucked by color and intricate detail at every turn.

I also picked up a PlayStation Portal to go with it, and that's been pretty awesome.

Just beat Sinking City and Man of Medan now I'm onto Watchdogs 2. I'm not loving it like the first one so far but I'm not very far into the game. Hopefully it improves with time.

Just about finished Dead Island 2.

I was a big fan of the first one, jank and all. This one has decent combat, but I feel it's not as open and fun as the original. Its still technically open world, but its definitely not nearly as big. Idk I liked it but i just didnt get immersed in the world like I did in the first one.

Just finished Doom: The Dark Ages. I liked it, but not $80 liked it.

It is a significant departure from the Eternal gameplay, slower and heavier, DoomGuy is like piloting a Mech now. The Tone is probably closer to Doom 2016, the borderline comedic Eternals tone is gone, but it does still have bright glowy pickups everywhere. Demon count is more reminiscent of classic Doom though, you can run through a battlefield of Demons in this one.

I totally forgot about the soundtrack, I barely even noticed it while playing, and I don’t remember a single track now that I’ve finished

I went back and played 2016 to refresh my memory, and I do think 2016 is the superior game, albeit different. 2016 did a better job with the story in my opinion, giving some context to what was going on as you played via "Dr. Hayden" and Vega talking to you, vs TDA being more cutscene based and nothing happening between the cutscenes. And the music, man I do miss that.

On my second play through on ultra nightmare. The gameplay is growing on me, and the recent patch fixed the audio mixing so the music actually kicks in. Notably easier than the other games.

Aside from HD2, I've been fairly addicted to Balatro (currently free with ps+, but it's on all current gen platforms). I don't care about poker at all, and not a big fan of rogue-like games, but combine them to make a rogue-like poker game with a sassy, sentient joker card companion... feels like i'm on acid.

Also been playing Loop Hero on mobile. Another rogue-like. Maybe i subconsciously do like rogue-likes. Or maybe devs are making better ones now.

WOW this game is great. Old school R6 but top down.

A little dated, but it's brilliant.

FINALLY beat Serious Sam the other night. Holy crap was that game a grind. There were several places that i got stuck for much longer than necessary. I very nearly gave up more than once. Immediately started 2 & so far it’s pretty much the same, albeit with some new weapons right off the bat. If it’s a slog like the first one i don’t know that I’ll stick around until the end. I didn’t just pick up Unbox: Newbie’s Adventure the other day so i might start that. Looks like a neat little 3D platformer.

I loved Serious Sam back in the day, though I feel like it may have been the multiplayer. Does that game have co-op or is my memory fading?

I think all the games on the HD collection have some form of multiplayer. I’m pretty much a strictly solo gamer though, aside from maybe a little couch co-op every now & then.
