I've had an idea, for a good number of years now, for a mod to a Freak back, that will allow for 'retaining' the inserts. That is, the insert will only come out the front.
I know, for example, that the Carter pumps that take removable barrels, could use such a thing- I made a one-piece, from-scratch Carter Freak many, many years ago:
There's also the Ranger, for similar reasons, and the M-98 because of the way the bolt fits. What else might need a 'retained' Freak insert?
The OD of the mod would be too big to fit an SL-68, and the "knuckle" where the back meets the tip is definitely too big for the pump bore. I believe the old Brass Eagle Cobra would need such a thing (though, it's worth asking, who would buysuch a thing for one?

The 'Mag, of course, and I may be attempting something like that shortly on a Stingray. Anything else?
The other half of that question is, of course, does anyone even want such a thing? A 'Cocker-thread back, as far as I'm aware, would work on a fair number of Carters and Rangers, so if anything, I'd make a small handful of those. Anything else- like a Cobra back- would have to be by special-order.
