These are the three decent bolts I have. I believe the left 2 are "short nose" and the other is "long nose". Research indicates people generally prefer the long nose style. If I do a force feed hopper, it will only be with Doc's double detent AC adapter. Otherwise, it will be twistlock with BW detents. Are these two bolt styles both good in those circumstances, or should I scrape up one or two more of the long nosed bolts?

I'd give them a shot and try before going and buying more parts

They should all work fine
The long nose will have slightly less chance of choping.
that said, I have used a concave multiport ANS bolt on my ULE classic mag with no chopping issue. I am usually using a revvy with it.
Automag are usually low maintenance and don't really need an upgrade appart the parabolic powerfeed plug (help prebent jamming on powerfeed body) and even this I would not stress using an older plug in the meantime.💀Team Ragnastock💀Comment

Your posting has given me inspiration to start a Minimag rebuild.
Can you share where you are getting your o-rings from? I'm debating to either get a kit or a large box of various.
Any thoughts if ditching urethane and going all buna will work or not?Comment

As has already been shown in this thread, I am NOT a person to ask advice from about this system. I'm just stumbling my way towards greater knowledge, which I hope to soak in from MCB folks. I have collected some of the orings and the last reg seat from Tippmannparts.com. They have an AGD section with some stuff available. I also made an order from The Oring Store of the others I could not get from the first order. I am hopeful that whatever is going on with airgundesigns.com will be done soon, and I will get some more reg seats from them.Comment

First run at rebuilding the first valve. Watched Tom Kaye's video while working. Checked the manual as well. On the positive front, it is moving the bolt back and forth well. Sadly, the inner oring of the two under the brass hat is popping out from the outter oring and lifting the on/off assembly up enough to leak pretty well. I tried reseating it with the same result. The more I look at the assembly, it seems logical that it would do this. What am I doing wrong?Last edited by Calvin; 10-10-2025, 07:31 PM.Comment

Will it work, yes, will it last as long and give you the best results? No
I have a full case of every standard size all in buna, 003-022, a handful of 100 series and even metrics
Mags are the one marker I will order kits specifically from AGD for. I think it's worth paying the extra to get the specific rings as they can easily last a decade with rings from agd

Against all odds, I now have 3 minimags holding air and chuffing away. The on/off assemblies gave me the most problems, but the pistons all needed their seal flipped as well. Getting on the new AGD shop right now to stock up on factory seals.1 PhotoComment

I just received this very minty stock rt mag barrel in the post. I'm super excited to try the dual detents. Now that I see it, I'm also excited about the barrel itself. The bore's finish is excellent. I love the stainless tip to protect the crown, and the 8.5" control bore seems perfect. Can anyone who has used one tell me what they think about them vs common aftermarket barrels? I am hoping to play Saturday, so I will know soon enough, but I am very excited about the acquisition!2 PhotosComment
