    Interesting. That still looks like urethane; maybe they only switched the pierce seal to nylon.

    Off center is disappointing.

      EV confirms they're nylon, actually.

    A few updates, bullet-point style:
    • EV confirms the new seals are nylon;
      ---
    • They also confirm that nothing has changed on the whole power tube assembly (cup, retainer, power tube, eyelet, etc.); it is exactly the same as the last version CCI was using;
      ---
    • The reason for using nylon vs. urethane is, and I quote, "They (the cup seals) used to be made from a urethane type of material, and those can swell from exposure to moisture. We switched out to a nylon type of material, which is much more moisture proof, but it is also a harder surface. As a result of the harder surface, the retainer (large threaded portion that pushes against the cup seal) needs to have a smooth face free of imperfections.";
      ---
    • I suggested that they offer both versions (urethane and nylon) - I checked with McMaster-Carr, urethane seals are practically a dime a dozen. Too bad they don't sell to Canadian individuals (only businesses... I might start JayCo Inc.);
      ---
    • Say what you will about EV, but they're very responsive with their customer service;
      ---
    • Shout out to our own Myfeetupontheground from PGP Junkies. I tried to order seals on their website but the system won't process orders outside of the U.S. I contacted him to see if a workaround could be found and he was kind enough to reply and look into it;
      ---
    • Yes I know, I'm OCD.

    FYI,
    Here's the nylon seal on the assembly; it won't properly fit. EV was at a loss as to explain why that's the case but I think it has to do with the off center, off sized hole in the seal. It has to be forced unto it, same thing as pushing it into the cup (won't go in easily). Either way, the seal ends up sitting all warped in the cup as opposed to flush as it should.

      Also just speaking from a material standpoint nylon is also a little cheaper than urethane.

      Yes, but even at say $1 per urethane seal that's still dirt cheap for such a critical component. And I think they're actually even much cheaper than that.

      Do you have a link for the McM# for the urethane? I looked... couldn't find that size.

    I think the closest would be https://www.mcmaster.com/93650A120/ as the OD and thickness seem to fit, but the ID would be too large. Maybe going with a smaller ID and cut the rim would do?

      This is why, when something already works, you don't try to fix it.

        It seems I had a hand punched nylon seal. They now have new seals which aren't:
