You can, I've used the Shocktech Super Fly, The Tech-T Level 6, and a dual tailed Fire Bolt. They all work well. If we are being 100% honest the dual tailed Fire Bolt shot the best. I'd send off your current fire bolt to Stanchy to get the additional tail added. It's $5 + return shipping: https://stanchy.com/collections/mech...s/mech-ion-kit
Jordan is correct that the stock epiphany doesn't have the volume needed to run a mech kit. You can just slap an Ion firing can in there and it'll add enough volume to work perfectly though. My epiphany has an NDZ Ion firing can and hits velocity at around 165 psi.
So you want to build a Mechanical Ion?

This is a sticky topic.

Yeah, you can use about any normal-style bolt, as long as it has two tail o-ring rings. -
Can I use an aftermarket bolt with dual orings tail? I have an epiphany and the firebolt have an only one oring.Leave a comment:

I've never seen an Extcy IRL, but based on everything I'm seeing here: https://www.gogpaintball.com/downloads/extcy-manual.pdf
I see zero reason it wouldn't work. Pretty much the same gun. -
Hey guys new here , I have an extcy that has a broken selenoid , looking around it looks similar to the ion is there a way i could mech it like it's done here with the ion ?Leave a comment:

It will be better, actually... dual tail oring bolts allow for better efficiency and consistency on stock Ions.
The biggest reason you need one for a mech Ion is that normally the amount of time the bolt is held forward (to vent the dump chamber/fire the ball) is controlled electronically. Using a dual tail oring seals off the dump chamber from the air supply (supplied via the rear donut) so even if the bolt is held forward via the trigger the dump chamber won't continuously vent and affect consistency/velocity/efficiency.Leave a comment:

If I have a bolt modded for dual tail orings, will it still work in a Ion or will the 2nd oring mess things up?Leave a comment:

I'm more curious about the different operating pressures the different aftermarket bolts require to achieve velocity. Right now I have a NDZ firing can in my mech Epiphany and a SP 360 QEV with the SSC dual tail firebolt and its shooting great at 160 PSI. I have stuck my finger in the breach and fired it (Too many lvl 10 automags) and it was shockingly gentle. I suspect that if the operating pressure is low enough it would be possible to get these to stop on a paintball similar to a level 10, just with no venting. I'm hunting around for either a lucky or NDZ donut right now to hopefully shave a few more PSI off the operating pressure, and then it's going to come down to the bolts. I suspect that the Tech-T Level 6 is going to function the best at lower pressures, but am super curious to see if you could get pressure readings as well when you do your efficiency test. -
FYI:
The Super Stanchy Mech Ion kit is a drop in for Epiphany's as well, despite having a different trigger design then the stock Ion. I did hear rumors that the Epiphany firing can requires too high of an operating pressure to work with the mech kits, so I just dropped a NDZ Ion can ($13 on ebay) in there and it rips just fine. Hitting playable velocities @160 PSI with zero issues.

I've got two sitting here, let me know if you want to borrow one. -
Damn, I'd design a new mount if I had the grip to model it after. :/ -
No... SP1 boards are horizontal, and don't fit the same as an Ion. The TFGPB kits were different for the SP1 vs. the Ion kit in terms of mounting the SMAV. -
I'm assuming that the SP1 frame rail is still there for the board to slide in. If you check out the bottom of my main post, I have my 3d model up for printing. I designed it to slot in the spot where the board goes.Leave a comment:
