Well... yes and no. Sometimes it's a capital question, and not wanting stranded inventory. Even for consistent production, small batches are often more cost effective when carrying costs, cost of capital, shop space, etc. are considered. Especially if changes may occur - obsolescence gets expensive.

But sometimes it's just driving attention through a limited release flavor, like it's a chocolate bar that only comes out for Christmas.

I'll bet it's typically risk management for small shops, and a marketing strategy for big.

I hope they produce thousands of them. So the real ones drop in price and I can build what I want.

annoyingly, theres a lot of folks who grabbed these posting that they dont even own a phantom.

give it a few months, there will be a ton back up for sale.

its only a matter of time before the hype beasts realize they dont have a good time when they cant shoot ten dollars a second.

in my experience, Pistol setups have a steep learning curve and most folks just want one bc it looks cool.
i loan my duckslide out to anyone that wants to borrow it for a game or two and overwhelmingly more end up hating not being able to shoulder their marker and make consistent longer range shots.

I could not agree more with the fact that pistol setup have a steep learning curve. While my "real" Duckslide is my main Stock Class marker I will not say I have come anywhere near mastering it. I am way better playing open class or my stocked stock class Phantom then I am my Duckslide but it it nice to have something to improve with.

I bought mine knowing I have parts for 20 builds I haven't finished, but will one day. But I also plan on the duckslide being open class.

I guess I somehow got very lucky - or unlucky depending on who you talk to here 🤔. It shipped yesterday. very interested to see what shows up now. It will go on a phantom right away. My son is particularly excited about this kit since he saw his first duckslide at Bacci's. His phantom is already set up in a shorty pistol configuration with no stock and is he pretty handy with it.

I agree with this. There will definitely be people dumping them after they use it once. Pistol play isn't for everyone.
