-I'm not overly familiar with the little Emcos, but I'm given to understand that generally, they're pretty light duty- even for a tabletop machine- and limited in features. I seem to recall them having an odd or possibly unique way to mount the chuck, so you either need to find an Emco chuck or make your own backing plate for a different one.

Personally, a thousand bucks with zero accessories is at least fifty percent too high.

-Just from the photo, and being Carter-based, I'd guess Loopy is right- it's a more-or-less 'Cocker based thread, missing the Carter bore sizers. It looks very close to 20 TPI.

Then again, Carters were generally handmade, it could be "whatever Earon decided to use that day".

-Generally about three or four days for Priority, four or five for First Class. Your package should have been delivered by the time you probably read this.

Thanks Doc, I guess I need to pick up thread gauges also. The threads do look like Cocker, but the OD of the rear of the barrels are different. The Carter is .830, where a stock Cocker barrel is .865... They will not interchange for sure... If the Emco would have came from the original owner, with the tools, I would consider it. But otherwise, I'll pass and probably go new.

I have an Emco Compact 5 CNC and they are beast ...
They are a bit on the light duty, but are incredible precision machines. I've seen machine shop using them for titanium watch cases production.
my oem 3 jay chuck has 1.5thou runout about an inch out on gauge pins without dialing it in ...

1K seam a bit high, but the milling attachment go for 5-800 alone (its absolutely unusable for anything other than cutting Styrofoam)
the manual version usually go for 500 to 1500 depending on attachment and the CNC for 800-2500 depending on attachments and generation of electronics.

it seam like there is a collet holder without the nut on there. it takes er25 collet.

the chuck has 2 way to mount, both "proprietary", one is a 3 bolt pattern and the other is a 4 bolt pattern; no special threads or locking mechanism.

Walker feel free to ask anything you want on those little guys, i have lost of stuff on them.

X: I recently picked up a turret tool changer for a Compact 5, that I plan to retrofit to my Logan-based CNC lathe. Another guy with the same Centroid controller did that, and has worked out the hows and wherefores- it's not going to be easy, but it's known-doable.

I have one of those, 6 positions, really sturdy and stable.
they are super repeatable because of the ratchetting mechanism inside (they turn 1 position forward, then backtrack to set into the ratchet to take the slack off; at least with the OEM control code).
but dont forget your calendars and MtDew warmer because they are suuuuuuper slooooowwwwwww ....

When you pull the handle it retract the anti-return bbs making the pump stroke a bit smoother and easier.
It was originally an after market upgrade that was eventually integrated as a standard item on the later Sheridan's.

Xe has it. A considerably smoother pump stroke is pretty much it. There's also a version for the PGP that makes it centerfire, but I've never seen a measurable performance benefit with that.

I'm pretty sure it was mentioned several pages back in this thread, and not much has changed: I'm a one-man band over here, and doin' my best. I check my email daily, PMs from the various boards a little less often than that (I don't always have a lot of time to surf) and threads like this... well, sometimes maybe not until my attention is called to it.

I do not ignore anyone intentionally, but at the same time, I don't always have the time to give everyone the attention they deserve. Yes, I 100% agree it's not good business, but there's a hard limit to what I can do some days.

Best bet is my email (doc [at] docsmachine [dot] com) or feel free to post over on the Tinker's Guild. There are more than a few days those are the only two things I have time to check.

This goes with the question above. I already have a fair list of things I want to produce in the coming year, and an even longer one of things I'd do if the opportunity arose. I try nd get as much done as I can, but again, there's just so many hours in a day.

Worse, I HATE "joke" songs. I can stand most of Weird Al's stuff, in small quantities and on widely-separated occasions, but stuff like Wynona's Big Brown Beaver or Jackyl's Lumberjack? If those come on the radio, I want to jump in the truck, go find the radio station, and dynamite the transmitter.

I have a small MP3 player that I run through the stereo out in the shop- I also hate radio commercials- and the current playlist has a lot of Godsmack, Parkway Drive, Five Finger Death Punch, Three Days Grace and Silent Theory in it. Although I've also been known to put some fossilized antiques like Van Halen, Twisted Sister, and even Def Leppard on there.

That is entirely true.............I worked for Earon and still have my stock gun from all those years ago. A handful of years ago I started playing again and realized my barrel was WAY too big for the paint that was being made now. I sent Earon a pic of my threads and asked him to make me a couple of barrels with much smaller IDs - what I got from him still had to be re-machined to fit my gun. Everything is "cocker based" but there is not true measure, things changed over the years. As any true "custom" gun, it has to be hand fitted (for lack of a better description) when it comes to Carter Machine barrels.

Doc - Recently I suffered a great personal loss and my 12-cup “Mr. Coffee” brewed it’s last pot. I gave it as dignified a burial as I could in my trash bin and now that the mourning period is over I’m looking for another meaningful and fulfilling long term relationship.

I have needs and will admit during the stated mourning period I had repeated flings with an older 9-cup percolator that I’ve occasionally taken camping in the past. She is reliable but requires lots of attention so as not to over-brew, or under-brew, and the cleaning is honestly kind of tedious.

What good quality 12-cup drip coffee maker would you suggest and are there any that are made in the USA?

What is your favorite Mtn Dew? Do you stick to the original, or one of the other flavors?

I prefer Code Red, though I occasionally get Voltage. I almost always get whatever seasonal flavor is out. This year's batch of July 4th flavors were really quite good. That said, the original game fuel is still my real favorite. I think I bought 6 boxes the last time I saw them at the store.
